    Taking the plunge into selling

Good keyword-friendly name. Nice background. Good time of year to start selling soaps. The only suggestion I have is about your Pictures page---perhaps you could make them all the same size? Wishing you all the best of luck with your new business!

What is a good number of soaps to have?

That varies so much. My theory used to be the more the merrier but that has a downside as too many choices can confuse people. I'd recommend having such classics as lavender, unscented, floral, dessert types, designer dupes, men's, and spicy fragrances/EO's. Also, a seasonal soap or two...

    Help me learn M & P

Khajari -- love those shimmery Christmas soaps! :) I prefer adding the shea butter to the white base. You've made some nice looking oatmeal soap, too!

    Help me learn M & P

Obsidian, Crafter's Choice is considered a very good base [I've not tried it yet] but it's probably better than the soap bases that Hobby Lobby carries.

    Oils

Jojoba and camellia are both good.

    Help me learn M & P

Using a high quality soap base makes all the difference. Two of the best on the market are Stephenson and SFIC.

First Holiday Soaps of the Year!

I've used liquid versions of this but not in red. I think that you'd have to color the clear M&P base to get a bright red. Coloring white base always gives bright colors a more pastel/toned-down hue.

    Why wouldn't my soap melt?

Khanjari, Yes, you only need to use about 1 teaspoon per pound of soap base. It really creates a lovely lather. Glad to see it's the raw shea butter as it has more nutrients.
