    Sunflower oil

Off topic and don't tell anyone I said so, but Texas blows. This heat and bright sun are killing me. I'm a New England girl and can't wait to get out of here.

    Sunflower oil

Don't know that I'd go as high as 30% with sunflower - but I have 2 recipes with 15% (others at 10%) and those seem to do fine. 30% might be pushing it.

    Sunflower oil

I use HO sunflower quite frequently in my soaps and rarely (knock on wood) have problems with rancidity - even in this blasted heat and humidity that is north Texas.

Glitter. I just don't get it.

I use a small tea strainer too. I prefer diamonds to glitter for my bling, but alas, have no diamonds for my soap :)

Glitter. I just don't get it.

I hate glitter on soap, too! Unfortunately for me, I made a soap once and tried out the glitter. Ya - now I always have to use it on that bar. I am seriously considering getting a dedicated mold for it. I find that stuff everywhere, after. Yuck. Some for sprinkles - candy on soap? I just don't...

25 % off everything WSP sale

Here's something interesting though.. I only buy 3 FOs from them and the prices they have crossed out (to indicate what the price WAS before the discount) is HIGHER than what i just paid before the sale. Example: Bay Rum 111 was $31 for 16oz regular price - 25% off would be about $23. Now...

    Boys are dumb

Yep. Boys are dumb. But, I have been pleasantly surprised over the years at how many of those boys like my soap :) I just heard about the School Committee Chairman and the Superintendent having a discussion about who likes my soap better. I was pleased as punch. But, boys are still dumb ;)

This Blog Post is just Confusing

And yes, you're NOT supposed to call products by an ingredient name unless that ingredient makes up 100% of the product. This is the stupidest one. You can't call a soap "Lavender Soap" or a shampoo "Rosemary Shampoo" because the lavender and and rosemary don't make up 100% of the product. It...

    Jewel Weed Soap

I believe, also, that you need the fresh weed. I have so many people here ask me about jewel weed soap and I keep telling them that it's the handmade soap itself that's helping, not the addition of any weeds. If it's a treatment for poison ivy/oak they seek, they need to rub fresh leaves on...

    I don't see any reason you couldn't.

Sport card boxes for storing soap

This is what I use and I think they work great. I do punch holes in the sides, though, to make sure they still get some air flow: http://www.bcwsupplies.com/cat/trading-card/trading-card-boxes/shoe-storage-box-1600-cards

    Opinions Needed Please..........

Just a side note - babassu and and PKO feel much less drying to me in soap than coconut. It could all be in my mind, though :)

    Name? Scent? What to do?

Do you have a description on the back panel? That's where I describe the scent if it's got an unusual name.

Is doing M&P Cheating? Like a Box Cake Mix?

But also, do you want just a "pretty" soap or do you want a soap that makes your skin feel amazing? I don't work with MP for many reasons, the main one being that it feels as though it leaves a film on my skin. People make soap for all kinds of reasons - you have to decide what you want before...

What happens to the bad stuff in animal fat once saponified?

People just don't give our skin enough credit for doing it's job :) I am in the camp that pretty much nothing in soap gets through to the vascular system and believe that IF there were any dangerous "toxins" in the raw ingredients, the soapmaker would shoulder the risk through inhalation. But...

    That moment when..

In the throes of formulating passion: "I'll just do this one, little tweak." Then, 6 weeks later - perfection! Notes? What notes? What channel was my brain on that day? :)

DOS and oil on soap after cure

It's been so humid down here in Texas this spring, that my soaps are sweating in the HOUSE. Can't wait to see what they're going to do once we get to market :(

    Packaging for wet soaps

I'm still looking for something better than toilet paper for my DH when he's traveling with my soap. He likes to take a whole bar, not the little, skinny ones I made for him (that he could just toss at the end of the week). So far, nada.
