    Is this DOS?

IDK if you're talking about the white spots or the orangey color around the edges - but, if it's the color around the edges, I think it looks like rancidity starting up.

50-pounds CO NOT in a bag in a pail?

I'm going with leakage? I never experienced a problem with those pails before, either, and I'm in Texas. I hate that bag! :) I'm ordering some more next week - we'll see if that bag is still in there, now that the weather is cooler. I really hope not, because I DO lose some product during the...

50-pounds CO NOT in a bag in a pail?

If you are talking about Columbus - they do that in the summer :( What I've been doing with it is to let the CO melt outside in the pail it comes in (bag and all), then transferring the melted oil into my old pail - or a pail or two you might already have. If it's too cold outside where you are...

    Max cure time?

Yep - the older they are, the better they get!

    Laundry soap questions

Has anyone noticed any problems with their HE washers after using these homemade recipes over the long term? I was led to believe that you don't want suds or any kind of cleanser that would leave build-up in them.

    Smooth tops and edges

Making sure your soap is hard enough not to stick when unmolding helps keep the sides smooth, too.

I LOVE SNOW WITCH! Just sayin' :)

What do we think about this?

Ha! I would never sell my customers "fresh" soap ;)

Medical Grade Lanolin - help me out here

Thank you!!! I already use lanolin USP and thought (and still do think) it was just fine; especially since I'd never heard of "medical grade". I was watching "The Profit" last night and this woman has built a business off pots of lip balm claiming this "medical grade" lanolin. Of course, I...

Medical Grade Lanolin - help me out here

Thank you - I'm thinking it's right up there with "All Natural", but I did find a place that sells different "grades" of lanolin, but I can't see what the differences are - and now I can't find it again, ha ha. I'm guessing there's a difference between how "clean" it is??? I have no idea....

Medical Grade Lanolin - help me out here

So, last night -for the first time - I heard the phrase "Medical Grade Lanolin". I've been in this business for awhile now and have never heard that before. Anyone know if this is a real thing or a marketing term? I've been rolling around the interwebz and can't find anything that...

    Soap in drinking glasses

I still want to know how you get soap out of a glass.

    Soap in drinking glasses

Cut soap with scissors? One - I can't imagine trying to do that - but I haven't seen that shape you're talking about; and Two - too much work. ETA - I don't get the cupcake thing, either. Looks like too much work, again, just to get in the shower :) Too each his own - but the ones I saw...

    Soap in drinking glasses

I can't remember the site where I saw them again - the site which prompted me to ask this question. A friend of a friend has some from 2013 on her FB page: www.facebook.com/ ScentedAngelLuxuriousBathProducts/ (note the space). I sent her a message once, asking about it, but she never got back to...

    Soap in drinking glasses

I keep seeing these soaps... poured into drinking glasses. Some come looking like an exotic adult beverage, some have shower poufs on top. I've never done this, but I am wondering how they are used. Does the soap slide out if you turn it upside down? Do you have to pour water over it? Can...

Is doing M&P Cheating? Like a Box Cake Mix?

Can I ask why you'd want to make your own M&P? This is to anyone who does it. Your end customer wouldn't be melting it down when they get it home, right? I'm not really sure of the point unless you are selling the base to someone who is then going to make their "own" product. This is NOT meant...

    A Little Dissapointed

It may work out fine for you, I just hate consignment, personally. Especially if they are not as invested in selling your soap as you are. Just stay on top of them, make sure your product is displayed well and kept dust-free and out of sunlight. It won't hurt if you remind your public that the...

    Sunflower oil

Truly? I've never gone that high with it. Never thought to, actually. Maybe I'll give it a whirl this week. I love, love sunflower in soap....

    Sunflower oil

I didn't grow up with the humidity PLUS the heat. Grew up on the Massachusetts coast where it is humid, but not humid with temps in the high 90s all.summer.long. Gah! I am a stinky, sweaty mess at market every weekend. and I never had a soap bar of mine "sweat" until I moved here. Or had sugar...

    Burning in the eyes

I don't understand people who think that handmade soap won't burn eyes - or hurt when they drop it on their toe. It's still SOAP! I hear these things so many times (Will it sting my eyes? Smells so good, I could eat it!) that now I put this on the little card I hand out with my soap: "Remember...
