what else can I make with my soap making stash?

Do you have bees wax? I make a solid lotion that many people like - it is simply 1/4 each shea, cocoa butter, almond oil and bees wax. I infuse calendula in the almond oil, but it is not necessary. Melt together in double boiler, pour into molds. If any of your essential oils are food...

Fragrances you just cannot stand..whats yours?

I love patchouli EO as well. A blend of a wine cork scent mixed with damp earth, but with a spicy and 'clean' background to the whole thing. I mostly blend it, but being out of patchouli would be almost like being out of garlic in the kitchen. Inconceivable. Getting back to the ones I...

    Fragrance Oil Review Chart Link

I am not saying this is what happened, but the only ones who would 'gain' from such deletion would be the manufacturers and distributors, if the reviews were negative...none of mine were erased so if you remember what you wrote, can you confirm if they were negative reviews? Now, just because...

    Man scrub

I make scrub soaps that are very popular with the dudes. Coffee as the liquid, poppy seeds and salt soap shreds. They are meant as hand scrubs, but guys use them on their bodies to shower. Crazy I say but who am I to judge? dudes will be dudes. Tea tree and peppermint sells well, citrus...

Attention veteran soap makers! Will you help me?

Canola and grape seed oils have an abundance of linoleic and linolenic fatty acids which can cause soap to oxidize and go rancid fast. I do not recommend using them. Olive oil is fine, you can make a 100% olive oil soap but it should be cured for a long time, at least 3 months, preferably 6...

    Extreme inventory reduction sale

I sent you a PM, not sure if you will get it. Please let me know if you need 1 oz or 4 oz for the essential oils. As far as payment, I can invoice you with Square or you can send me a personal check. I'll figure out the best shipping option once I know if you'd like 1 oz or 4 oz. Thanks for...

    Soapy dreams for 2015???

Downsizing and moving my shop across the pond. I will no longer sell but want to continue making soap for my family and for trade. I will enjoy making just the soaps I like! This will still take a little adjusting. Where to buy coconut oil in Barcelona? What about essential oils? Any...

    botanical infusions to color candles

thank you! I will remelt them. I have larger wicks, and I was also thinking about scented wax melts, if I can find a suitable mold.

    botanical infusions to color candles

The candles colored with alkanet infusions were the only problematic ones. The ones tinted with paprika and anatto performed fine, both for burning and hot throw. So avoid alkanet but the others are fine!

    botanical infusions to color candles

I have had a chance to test a couple of them, with mixed results. Lavender (CS) colored with oil infused alkanet had great cold and hot throw, but subtle. I used a lot (approximately 1 and 1/2 oz per lb) of fragrance so on the next one I will use the same amount or perhaps a little more. The...

Do people generally prefer single EO scents or blends of multiple EOs?

Most of mine are blends (except for my patchouli soap) and people really like them. You can maybe start with two EO blends and increase the complexity? for example spearmint-peppermint, tea-tree peppermint, orange-rosemary, orange-anise,.....the list can go on. Some of my blends go to 7-8 EOs...

    botanical infusions to color candles

Different ways. For alkanet I use higher heat since it is for color only, same with anatto and paprika. I either use a double boiler or an oven on low heat for 2 - 3 hours. For the nettles I used low heat and infused for a couple of weeks. Same with calendula. Next I will be trying indigo...

    botanical infusions to color candles

Thank you! I did several burn tests for different wicks and one of the scent blends in uncolored, determined the best wick size and checked that the scent did not interfere with the burn - but I have not tested the colored ones and/or several of the other scents. I will burn the first one...

    botanical infusions to color candles

These are soy candles, scented with FOs but using botanical color infusion - alkanet (2 concentrations), anatto, paprika, chocolate (very light beige, should have used more?), nettle (a hint of green) and uncolored. Some of the scents are my blends: lavender, lilac, neroli, spice alley, moccha...
