    Beer Soap

http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2011/11/alcohol-doesnt-really-cook-out-of-food-in-most-cases/ according to the above link and other information I have researched, cooking/simmering for 15 minutes will retain 40% of the original alcohol, while a 2 hour simmer will only retain 10%...

    Beer Soap

We like beer soaps the best, and my latest uses Guinness stout as well! I used essential oils (a blend that I know does not accelerate) and even after boiling the stout for 2 hours and freezing it, my batter accelerated to the point where I used just a spatula to mix and no stick blender at...

    Soy wax and Essential oils

I have had good results (good heat throw) using citronella essential oil for candles. My other EO attempts (lavender, rosemary, clary sage) have been a waste of EOs. I would like to find others that work besides citronella, but there is at least one for you.

Natural Fragrance ideas, help please :)

Not quite what you are describing, but if you are able to change it to a Chai tea, I have gotten a LOVELY scent blending the usual suspects in EOs: cardamom, cinnamon, clove, black pepper...you already have the cream for the milk. Not sure how the strawberries would work. They will probably...

    Rose scents and other flowers

Rose petals from Camden Grey does not accelerate at all. Their 'wild rose' has minimal acceleration. I like both of them, prefer the wild rose since it is less grandmotherly...LOL

Business Activity Code for Taxes - which do you use?

On the down side, engaging a tax expert cost me a lot of money, plus I got audited and had to pay fines to the IRS a few years back. I looked back at previous years, and he had made a lot of mistakes! I had no recommendations for someone else (good and affordable). The first time I filed...

Can Sodiium Citrate be used in making liquid soap?

Using the lye excess (not glycerine) method, also knows as the Failor method; I get milky liquid soap neutralizing with Citric acid, and clear soap when using Borax. YMMV as the glycerin method is a lot more forgiving from what I understand.

Bathbomb's with fragrance oil , itching skin?

I used ewax to emulsify the cocoa butter with the bath water in my fizzy bath melts. We use essential oils because we love them, nothing harsh on the skin though. Essential oils could be omitted, but most people have some essential oil they tolerate, and IMHO they enhance the bath experience...

    Rosemary in baby soap?

I used ground rosemary once in a soap. Never again since it felt scratchy to the point of being unpleasant. That was meant for adults, so I would not recommend it for adults either (much less for babies, even if you can find a safe amount, their skin is more delicate and scratchy additives...

Purchased a fragrance for soap - it came unlabeled. Legal?

I am no chemist, but I haven`t found anything during all my research of fragrances etc. that there are fragrances that will work equally well in both soaps and candles, as those two seems to have completely different take on skin safety of the ingredients. But as I said, I am no chemist so I...

    Non-Fading Natural Colorants

Here are some pictures showing some of my greens (and others). For indigo, I recommend the jacquard product sold by Dharma trading (they sell several natural dyes). The indigo needs to be dissolved in the water BEFORE adding the lye. A little mortar and pestle crushing will help get rid...

    Non-Fading Natural Colorants

My experience has been good with indigo, alkanet, annatto and calendula. The last three I use in in oil infusions. Madder root makes a lovely color, but for me it faded. Low concentrations of paprika give a nice peach, but it also faded. If you use more paprika, you can get a really nice...

Purchased a fragrance for soap - it came unlabeled. Legal?

Norway is not part of the EU even though it obviously is in Europe geographically.

Purchased a fragrance for soap - it came unlabeled. Legal?

Of course people should use what they want or what they feel is best for them. Just another data point, but I became sensitized to FOs using them in soap when I was in business. I also found out my skin does not like clove essential oil. I use clove EO on a muscle/joint pain balm, but...

    Scrub soaps

Extra scrubby since they have poppy seeds. Colors come from indigo, alkanet, rose clay, coffee and calendula. Blue is tea tree & mint, the other is citrus rosemary. Scented with EOs exclusively.

    Essential oils and safety

LOL! sandalwood and neroli EOs? I have not been able to afford either one, even though I splurge more with the leave on products. If you are to use these for soap are you sure they are not FOs?

    Essential oils and safety

Each EO has a different safety limit. We use lavender 'neat' for burns, so that one would be 100%. Crazy, of course, in soap just use as much as you like for scenting, and how much you can afford. Beyond a certain point it is also going to make the soap too soft. I was using lavender (before...
