    anyone make high po bar?

It may have been the fo, depending on how much po you used. My batches with 38% did not get thick that fast. It should be a nice hard bar. Did you superfat it at all?

    anyone make high po bar?

Honor435: I did a batch with 38% organic PO. It is creamy, but it leaves your skin looking dry; although it didn't feel dry and itchy (if that makes any sense).

    Green silicone loaf mold

Thanks Tom & PugMom. I'll have to give it a try again. Do you know if you can grease the sides with petroleum jelly? Someone had suggested that and I thought that was a good idea. I guess I could always line it also, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the silicone. My recipe is a 44...

    Green silicone loaf mold

I guess I should have let my soap sit in the mold another 24 hours, there is not way that soap would fall out easily :) .

Layne: Even though you were not trying for cow spots, it really looks great with the cocoa! I think you've come up with something there. You could call it cocoa cow...chocolate cow...moo moo chocolate... :)

Anyone try the room temperature method?

I am glad to hear that it can take longer to set up, I wasn't sure if I did something wrong. And WOW Artisan, you have some beautiful soaps there!

I'm confused. Isn't glycerin from lye?

Also, most (maybe all) of the commercial soaps and many handmade soaps do not list "lye" as the ingredient. They will list it as sodium hydroxide, which may be less concerning to your friend and others.

    Just noticed

Ian, I was just thinking the same thing; it really is cool learning of the dates that others celebrate holidays/celebrations.

Anyone try the room temperature method?

I just recently tried room temperature for the first. The soaps did come out fine, but it seems that they have to sit in the mold longer before they could be removed (they were still too soft). Has anyone else noticed this?

    Annatto seed or powder?

Thanks for your replys. I will have to try these. I'm hoping I can use the powder instead of soaking the seeds. I think I'll have better control over the finished results with the powder, once I get the amounts right.
