What soapy thing have you done today?

Beveling, beveling and more beveling. Good news is, I am finished cutting and beveling everything I’ve made recently so it’ll all be ready to package up at the end of February. In other news, a local microbrewery asked me to use one (or more) of their products in a soap so I’m headed there after...

    Cap’n Crunch?

Good point! I think I need to ponder whether this project is even worth experimenting with. I might just make another batch of Capn Crunch cookies and call it done.

    Rose Bouquet

I think that’s the same mold I just received in the mail. Thanks for a sneak peek, that’s a very pretty soap!

    Creating a Natural "Look"

How about a cigar band in a “natural” looking paper or even kraft paper, then wrapped with a piece of raffia? That would provide the natural appearance I suspect they want. Muted, softened or weathered appearing colors and an informal font would add to that impression. I saw soap once that had a...

    Rimmed soap learning curve

That’s an interesting idea! I have a marble one which can be heated by running under really hot water, perhaps, if I am ever brave enough to try it again, I’ll try that.

    Rimmed soap learning curve

So I cut my first rimmed soap and wow, there’s a huge learning curve! My first rim was put in oven to gel but I forgot to turn the oven off after it started preheating so yeah, that volcano’d. Try #2 was a thin slab mold which I tried to cut in half horizontally using a pottery cutoff wire. That...

    Cap’n Crunch?

X I may have to go buy a small box. Think I’d look odd sniffing a box of of cereal in the parking lot of my local Walmart?

What soapy thing have you done today?

Cut my gardenia soap I’m pretty happy with the confetti I added from previous trimmings but had hoped it would be whiter. I may have been timid on adding enough TD. It’s for a family member though and smells like a sultry summer evening. Since she lives on the canadian border, this will still...

    Cap’n Crunch?

This is kind of random, but I’m looking for a FO or mixture of FO/EO which smells like Cap’n Crunch. I know there are some out there which smell like fruity cereal but the project I’m hope to work on specifically needs Cap’n Crunch. Any ideas? I’m told it’s smells like butter, corn and brown...

What soapy thing have you done today?

ITP success Cut the loaf I made yesterday and I’m very pleased with the way the ITP swirl came out. I’ve had challenges in the past getting it into the mold soon enough once i add the white pumice and ground apricot seeds. It’s colored with a mixture of green micas from NS and scented with tea...

What soapy thing have you done today?

That’s a good suggestion. I haven’t had a problem in the past with painted metal but it can’t hurt.
