What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I taught a little girl about cold process soaping. Her parents came and we went into the soap lab. The little girl donned eyeware and gloves, with her long sleeves and tennis shoes. She is 10 and will probably be a chemist when she grows up! She loves science! I had premixed the lye and...

    Shampoo Bar

Thanks! As usual, I am overthinking things! I do plan to use less CO since it is drying, but not too little because it is cleansing. I’ve never used any butters but decided to use Shea in the shampoo bar because of things I’ve read. Also, I think there are more soft oils in this soap than I...

    Shampoo Bar

Water lye ratio is same as saying water to lye or water:lye. You have to please pardon me because I am very new and trying to learn. The lingo of soaping is like the lingo of anything else. If I hit you with nursing lingo and you weren’t a nurse, I’d have to be patient with you as you learned...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Being a newbie, I have found this to be a very expensive hobby and quite frankly, an addiction!! I have found the FOs that say they behave well in CP from BB are pretty true to their word. However, my trial and error with EOs has been very costly. I also use coffee in my CP kitchen hand soap. I...

Which EO go well with what FO?

Thanks for posing that question! I am new, also. I’ve taken a class but have ventured out to make my own recipes. I have less trouble with color now but scent is an issue! I tried mixing Leather FO with Clove EO and Orange EO and wound up only with the leather! Thanks also for the sniff test idea!

What soapy thing have you done today?

The soapy thing I did today, besides giving my She Shed/Soap Shack a good sweeping was to unmold this gorgeous oatmeal bar scented with Brambleberry’s Moonstone FO.

My beautiful Bay Rum CP soap just didn’t get as hard as I wanted. So, it became a Bay Rum Mosaic!

lining wooden molds - part 1

I use freezer paper in my wooden molds. However, I have purchased silicon molds and I like them best. They are smaller than the molds my hubby made. I cover with cardboard so I need t get hubby busy with kids! Great idea!
