    Feedback on lotion recipe requested.

I actually don't have pump bottles to put the lotion in. I poured it while it was still fairly fluid into a round bullet bottle with a disc top. Two full days later it's coming out fine with a little squeezing, but I would probably use my round jars next time. I first heard the word IPM here...

    What Makes Salt Bars "Work?"

I only sub CM for 50% water and I view it as any other liquid, don't really bother to adjust for the real water percentage. But if there is a tiny little bit extra in the can that's going to waste, I just dump it in. I do adjust for the fat content as it's fairly oily (CO of course). I just...

    Frustration at other businesses

I don't know if there is a standard against which you measure wisdom, but I do know that people get better with age, whatever their starting point may be.

    Geek Tips

That's a great tip if you want to freeze something and use. But for people like me who don't want to mix lye with anything other than water, just use 50% lye solution and the rest of the liquid amount for your additive, added directly into oils.

    Colours

I'm guessing your recipe has red palm oil. Whether it does or not, here's what worked with my red Palm based yellow batter- TD, lots of it got it to a creamy light yellow shade. Green stayed green. The Cellini red mica from BB which goes orange in soap, stayed orange. A pink colorant, merlot...

Fed up, feeling overwhelmed, and no place to vent...

Gigi, I'm sorry you are having to go through this. We all get our share of irresponsible people and pseudo friends in life and it's really frustrating to forever be picking up the pieces and start fresh. But one thing they serve is, to make us strong.Hoping things will straighten out soon enough...

    Feedback on lotion recipe requested.

Hi D, thanks for the links. Like you, I used to have dry scaly legs, that's why I love my body butter, but I feel I need some humectant action in there in the winters. That's why I use glycerine even in my body butter and that's the reason why I have glycerine and sodium lactate in my recipe. I...

Tell me about Salt bars...why great?

I don't think the salt adds a significant volume. I only have to keep one or two individual molds for extra batter and my batches are the same size as yours although I use slightly less salt at 65% Of oil weight, which I don't think matters anyway.

    Face/Acne Soap and Superfat Levels

My salt bar is 80 CO, 20 OO and 15% lye discount and 65% salt PPO. 50% of my liquid is coconut milk with highest fat content I could find at that moment. They are awesome.

    Feedback on lotion recipe requested.

Yesterday I made a lotion, my goal was for it to be light but still good for dry skin. It has thickened up quite nicely, is the whitest white and feels weightless, spreads real easy and has kept my skin moisturized for over 12 hours now. I'm aware that the look and feel may change further in the...

    sweetened condensed milk in soap?

Depends on how much you want to use. Can't sub for full water or even 50% as that will be too much sugar. The max rate of sugar usage for a soap I read is about an ounce ppo, anything over would give you a very soft soap. So, if you can do the math and stay within that limit, I say why not try...

    Face/Acne Soap and Superfat Levels

Oily skin doesn't by itself cause acne, but it attracts dust, leads to clogged pores which then become breeding ground for bacteria and cause breaking out. Mild cleansing and even lightly moisturising with few drops of olive oil or sweet almond oil is a good routine for oily skin.

    Face/Acne Soap and Superfat Levels

Its a very common misconception that oily skin needs more cleansing. Actually oily skin needs the same kind of gentle care like a dry skin would. Stripping it off all the natural oils by using harsh cleansers like CO soaps or frequent cleansing would only serve to stimulate the already...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I just ordered a few FOs and sample micas -24 of them from AHRE. I'm finding that I really prefer light florals and fresh herbals, loved their lavender and chamomile, pink lilac and willow( the cured tester smells like fresh lilacs), kimono flower and also their CLV. There are several others...

    Cocoa Butter - For Scent?

I use CB in most batches, often over 10%, and my experience has been similar to Shunt, no cocoa scent at all.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Gigi, why not start a new thread about your brittle soap and try to troubleshoot? 36 hrs after being in the fridge is not too late to cut unless it's a high coconut soap we are talking about, which I think is unlikely given your skin situation. Shea butter doesn't make soap brittle despite...
