    Let's see those soap dishes

Ladies and gentlemen, you know all your soap dishes are overflowing with product. Let's see them! I'll start. This is one of two by the kitchen sink.

    OK, I'll bite. Radish soap?

Touche, sir. Although the radish is a rather unsexy vegetable. I'm not sure why it seems popular. I was just curious—it's not something I'd try unless it was life-changingly amazing. So it's on to Tussah silk soap, then, as my next experiment in terror. You have been warned.

    OK, I'll bite. Radish soap?

I see posts about this on my Facebook soaping pages. What the heck is it and why?

    You're addicted to CP when...

When you go to bed thinking, "If I get up early enough, I'll have two hours to squeeze in a soap before work." #neveractuallymamagedto

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made another loaf of my favorite soap, my London Particular: clove, cedarwood, black pepper and anise with grey swirls and a grey humpy peaked top. Which did NOT hump because I soaped cool but SB'd forever and ever and it wouldn't get thick even with all those accelerating FOs, which did not...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I lurked all over this thread for inspiration. I want to make soap but don't know what to make. Not a problem I've ever had before but I feel stuck. Something manly, maybe? #soapersproblems

Is doing M&P Cheating? Like a Box Cake Mix?

Oops, sorry, my good sir. <runs off to find a supplier for unicorn tears...>

Is doing M&P Cheating? Like a Box Cake Mix?

I think we're getting hung up on analogies, which are by nature inaccurate. There is no true analogy for MP vs. CP. As many have posted earlier, as long as the soaper or brand name on the label is up-front about the process that went into making the bar, the customer can decide for him or...

In search of blue berry FO

It's a flavor oil so I can't vouch for its soap behavior, but BB's Blueberry smells really true. I applied some of the lip balm I made with it in the back-back seat of a van (two rows behind the driver) and he yelled," Who's blueberrying it up over there?"

What soapy thing have you done today?

Bought lard and coconut oil, made a big batch of 100 percent coconut oil soap for laundry butter. It's so hard and white and smells really nice. I can't wait to have jars of the creamy stuff stacked up.

    You're addicted to CP when...

Dorymae, I love Smart & Final Iris. When I was in L.A. I shopped there all the time. And @Rowan: I flattened a paper coffee cup from a shop in Chicago and carried it home in my suitcase because it had the most interesting green and blue combination I'd ever seen. My mother just rolled her eyes.

A really good smoke fragrance oil?

Not that this will help much, but I bought a "Firewood" scent online from Amazon to make my Apres Ski soaps and it smells just like a woodsmoke fire. I can't sell the damn things because no one loves them but me, but still, they smell just like a smoky wood fire and go great in a two-soap pack...

    You're addicted to CP when...

When you become a pusher and recruiter. My house cleaner shyly asked where I get my supplies and the following exchange took place. Camille: I want to make some soaps for friends and family, just melt and pour Christmas gifts. Me: Awesome! Here's the info I have: blahdeebleedeblah. Camille, a...

    Ground pumice

I can vouch for that. Obsidian's pumice soap might be my favorite whole-body soap of all time. :) For my gardener's scrub, which is good for hands or feet, I use pumice powder with a little shredded loofah. I just eyeball the amounts, though.

I just saw my loaf crack

Sorry you had to witness this, Obsidian. But now I want cheesecake.

Not yet, lenarenee, so I have no answer for you.

Unnatural fear of making GM soap...

You can do it! This applies to goat's milk as well as any other type of soap.

So sad I am out of lard tonight

I just got my tallow order from Texas Natural Supply to tide me over while I'm out of lard. Back in town and can't wait to start soaping again! Animal fats make the yummiest soaps!

Advantage to Fragrances with high vanilla content?

Vanilla stabilizer is made for MP, and works rather well in that application. (Not 100 percent, but it holds the brown gremlins at bay.) In CP, it's touch and go. Part of the fun of soaping is working with the natural discoloration your ingredients or FOs cause. A BIG part of the non-fun is...

    It's Carnival time!

Thanks, everyone! I'm pretty pleased overall. Not super crazy about the NG scent I used in the blend, but all their scents smell "soapy" to me.
