Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

Thank you , Galaxy. I like the way they look and LOVE the way they smell (Wasabi and Eucalyptus) but I was going for red "fireworks" curls in the clear base, and these are...not great. My boyfriend told me to take them off Facebook, they were that bad.

    Best of fragrance spread sheet

Good point! I have not personally sniffed a pig's azz. I withdraw the description of BB's Juniper while upholding the judgment.

Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

Not a troubleshooting issue, just an admission of massive failure. Fourth of July soaps using a new MP technique. Haaaaate.

    Best of fragrance spread sheet

I've had good luck with Mountain Rose Herbs. I adore their Juniper EO, much nicer than BB's, which has a scent redolent of...the rectal region of a boar.

    Best of fragrance spread sheet

Well, i just added some. I can put a lot more up later. There must be a way to promote it better--it's so handy. And I always check it before buying a new fragrance.

    Best of fragrance spread sheet

Oh! Thanks for the info. I'm a dork.

    Best of fragrance spread sheet

There are so many missing. The fragrance spreadsheet is a wonderful resource but it's hard to find and start paid email accounts anymore, so not everyone gets to participate or peruse it. So I fear that a best-of version would end up being an even smaller subset of the already-too-small spreadsheet.

I'm convinced that the reason I love making soap so much is..

OMG, me too. I just look at my babies, pick them up and sniff them, admire them and try to ignore the ugly messes ready for the rebatch/felting pile. I wish all my rooms were lined with books and soaps

    Ebru Technique Soap Challenge

    Sorry, what is ebru soap?

has anybody heard this about lavender EO?

I liked her when she wrote her books about avoiding garbagey ingredients in commercial skin and cosmetic products, but when she became all about pushing her own products, I fell off the train. A friend of mine cut her hand rather badly, but reported that she knew her sister was in WalMart, so...

    Making stamps?

If you have a design software and can make the design you want, you can upload it to rubberstamps.net. Their custom wood stamps are excellent and inexpensive.

    Brush embroidery

Sorry to Frankenstein's Monster an old thread, but I just tried it. It's a waste of soap--I calculated for .5 ounces of oils--because it thickened soap fast. Did not try Dorymae's method, just a plastic baggie, some cheap brushes and those pointed-end thin wood sticks. You can see the...

Gah, that is beautiful. I give up!

    You're addicted to CP when...

When you watch Orphan Black or Orange Is the New Black and think, "They don't know the first thing about a home soap business!"

What's your favorite scrubby ingredient? Least?

Powdered pumice is number one, with shredded loofah close behind. Seeds like poppy and cranberry look nice but scratch too hard. Also a huge fan of clays, activated charcoal and colloidal oatmeal.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I packed up a tub of 50 pounds of lard and another of 50 pounds of tallow to ship to California. I sorted and cleaned my colorants, packed my hard plastic molds and most of the silicone ones, put all my ribbons and pearls in a bag, and called UPS. After a year or so in SoCal, I will be...

    Lemon Eucalyptus Ombre

So beautiful! Does the lemon-eucalyptus smell divine? I haven't fussed with euc yet because of it's irritating properties so I was hoping to find a nice blend.

    Hazelnut milk trio

Inspired by the alternative liquid swap. I made "milk" from the little suckers (a gift from an Oregon hazelnut farmer) and tried to get a rustic, old-fashioned look/scent combo. Rough Honey, Turkish Mocha, Teakwood & Cardamom

    Organizing FOs

Mine are organized by: Men's FO; Herbs, Florals & Botanicals; Fruit & Citrus; "Dark," Fall & Winter; Honeys and lip flavors (yeah, I have a buttload of honeys. The search continues); and "Other" (Champagne, Burnt Sugar, Amber, various teas). It's not so much a scent categorization as...

    Strong black coffee FO?

I love BB's Turkish Mocha and it's insanely popular, but more people get chocolate from it than the coffee notes. BB's Espresso, on the other hand, is a strong, true, delicious coffee scent in CP. PM me, bbrown, if you would like a sample.
