    Noni Soap

Love soursop! Best when very ripe. Picking out the seeds is a nuisance but I just have to eat the pulp before it ever makes a smoothie!!

    Noni Soap

The Noni Tree is a Hawaiian tree, with round fruits the size of big oranges. It is edible, but I have heard not very good tasting, but it is made into soap indeed. You can find it on Amazon.

    Soapwort or Soapnuts

We grow soap lily in our California native plant yard in a cool place under oak trees. From Theodore Payne native plant nursery. The little bulbs take a long long time to grow into plants. Best to start in pots so they can get water. But if you are in no hurry, they are beautiful in bloom.

    What sticks to parchment paper?

Being a new soaper, I have spent a bit on supplies, and a couple of molds, but I like to make my own out of found items. I line them with parchment, and they are fine. But I really would like to find a tape that will help hold the parchment in place. Some thing sort of work but come loose. Has...

    Animal Dairy - Plant Dairy

Always questions! Please set me straight! If I use an animal dairy milk like yogurt, buttermilk, goat milk, should the soap Not be gelled, for fear of getting too hot? Is it ok to gel, then, plant based dairy like coconut “milk”, almond “milk”, rice “milk”? Set me straight!!

    Sweating soaps

Reading your thread with interest as heat and humidity have been a lifetime of problems. From Ohio, now in Hawaii. We always add rice to salt shakers. Try a layer of rice in the bottom of box. Works well. No cardboard in basement. Will soak up humidity. In Ohio winter is driest time—have to add...

    Palm oil in mp

Hello! I’m a new soaper who would like to make embeds with Clear MP. Are there any clear MP soaps without palm oil?? Since I don’t use palm in my soaps, seems hypocritical to use palm in the embeds. If all MP clear for sale has palm, oh Lord, does that mean I would have to make it myself? I’m...

    Question about water and dairy

I understand that to add things like aloe juice, coconut water or milk that the amount comes out of the water amount. Are there any liquids that don’t survive lye? I’m not planning on fruit juices. Any one in particular that accelerates trace? Also why do we freeze dairy products before using...

    Question about adding different acids

Thank you DeeAnna! That’s just what I needed to know, before trying a cockamamie idea! I will stick to what is more likely to work!! After a harrowing time pushing my first batch into the mold, I can picture that disaster!

    Question about adding different acids

Another beginner question! I see on the SoapCalc oil list that Lauric Acid, etc., and other acids are on the list to add separately. Can anyone tell me about that? In other words, do people add these acids, Lauric, Oleic, etc., individually to a recipe? For example, I have a recipe that is low...

    Juice in soap

Hello again, I am wondering (I do that a lot), about adding strained juices in soap instead of water. Would adding a drop or two of lemon juice help keep the color? Or would it bleach out the color? Maybe apple cider, beet juice, or carrot juice? I'd like to try adding Aloe, since I understand...

    Using CP and MP together

I read the forum everyday--my newspaper! I expect to be a newbie for some years to come. I watched a video from Royalty Soaps where MP clear was poured over CP for the Mermaid Tail Soap. That gave me lots of ideas, but thought I best check here first. Can MP clear be in CP soap? Is the clear a...

    type of soap

If customers are leery of a new soap ingredient, that’s a good talking point. Or an oil, say Babassu, that’s a good talking point. If they think it’s crazy idea soap, give little samples. Keep a good supply of “bread and butter” soap. Change up the colors sometimes, or fragrance. These are...
