What soapy thing have you done today?

Add some lanolin and this is very close to the lbussey version. Which I have found to be perfect for me.

    Scent recommendations for soap

In my family, Christmas gifts arrive between the 25th and April :) So, with shipping, some cure time will still have to happen on the way and while sitting on shelves at family. I am doing 8 bars for each member in a scent that I think they will like.

New log mold arrived this morning. Made a simple lard soap with oatmeal. Have not had much luck with cooler soaping, so uped the heat. Batter was 135, mixed until 138. Added oatmeal and fragrance and hand stirred. It started to gel after 15 minutes in the mold. Kitchen smells like a pine...

It never occurred to me to blend the oatmeal into the oil first...... Will give that a try :) (they look just a bit too sticky to come out of the mold yet.) Off to plan today's soap adventure! (off work the entire week) Thank you. I love that color!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I did put the oatmeal in dry. I do not think I as too warm? Lye water was barely above room temp. Oil had just melted the lard (turned off heat and stirred to get last bits to melt). Is that to warm? Or is it the difference in temp between lye and oil? Thank yo for your advise. edit: lye...

More of a natural berry instead of a dessert? That sounds like a good option as well. Thank you!

What happens if we use soap without curing ?

I also made some HP soap before discovering this forum. Made several batches, and used it right away. My first batch of soap just hit the three month mark. I have only one bar of it left :) I looked back at my notes, and its a completely different bar of soap. Much harder, better lather, lather...

    Scent recommendations for soap

Hello Hello. I have a nice lard/coconut/palm/olive recipe that has worked well for me in HP and now CP. (Thanks to information from this great forum). But, with Christmas around the corner, I would like to up my game and include some scent in the batter. I am fine using FO or EO....but there...

    Zany's no slime castile

Just attempted this recipe today (as my second cold process soap). I had a lot of non-dissolving precipitant. Thought maybe water was saturated. Filtered solution (coffee filter) and end result had MORE inclusions. Was not certain how much was NaOH, so dumped solution and started with just...

    Benefits of a salt bar?

I will defer to the experts, but when I have made mine, they do sweat for a few days. And the dry texture is significantly different than the non-small bars I have made.
