First attempts at HP - Silver Fox Soap

No replies, I must be in trouble. ;) I tested the soap today, and I have to say that the lather is AWESOME. I had to use quite a bit of water to get it started, but I was able to get good foam and it lasted forever. Actually, it's been well over an hour and the brush is still lathered. So...

First attempts at HP - Silver Fox Soap

So I've done about 20 batches of CP soap and I'm feeling pretty good about that. I've been curious about HP and so when I saw the many threads recently discussing HP shaving soaps, I thought I'd give it a shot.I tried one based on the Silver Fox soap, substituting lard for the tallow (since I...

    Cutting bars with decorated tops

I made a soap recently that didn't end up shaped the way I wanted, so I decided to use it for embeds in a new loaf. I cubed up some to put inside the loaf, then I used a veggie peeler to make some curls to go on top. It looks great! But now that I'm ready to cut it, I'm not sure how to go about...

    Buyers Remorse & Recommendation

With 5 kids in the house I don't get a lot of free time, so getting to make soap is something that I can't wait to do. I think about it all day long, just hoping that the little ones will take a long nap so I can get an uninterrupted hour in the kitchen. More often than not, I'm soaping once...

    Glycerin or...?

Thank you DeeAnna! The rack is metal (with a powder coat finish). I was actually wondering this morning if that would be an issue, but at the same time I wanted good air circulation. I suppose covering the rack with with a tea towel or cheesecloth would still allow some airflow (along with...

    Glycerin or...?

I cut my lavender swirl soap yesterday. Now it appears to be "sweating". Any idea what this is? My thought is glycerin, but could it be lye or something else? I'm tempted to give it a zap test but that might not be the best idea. My recipe is below, just in case that is the problem. I...

    How would you cut this?

I ended up going this route, and I'm pretty happy with it. I bit smaller than I wanted, but that's what I get for using a random shoebox as a mold! Next time I'll have to either increase the recipe size so that I end up at the height I prefer, or else cut it down a bit and pour into my loaf...

    Hello!

Thank you! Thanks all for the warm welcome. :) A couple photos attached of some of my past projects -- A couple of the necklaces that I made A birdcage that I turned into a planter A copper fence (and the edge of a gated arbor) that I made for my garden And one of my fairy houses

    How would you cut this?

Hello! Unmolded my 3rd batch of CP soap today. A lavender swirl -- my first attempts at EO and color! I used a shoe box with a plastic liner, so the slab ended up an odd size. I cut it into squares, but now I'm having second thoughts. I'm considering taking each of these "not quite squares" of...

    Hello!

New soaper here. :) Anytime I see something that I love, I decide I have to try and make it myself. That has led me to be a gardener, jeweler, beekeeper, fairy house maker, master of chile peppers, and builder of many copper garden structures. I had been selling our honey, but needed some way to...
