    Batch #29 Coconut Mango #3

HI, Neil. You can call me friend, that means a lot. I'm Deb, so you can call me that, too. The critters are doing fine this winter. I close the little goats' stalls at night and they stay pretty cozy. It's been so nice and warm the last couple of days, finally coming out of the deep...

    Batch #28 Orange Sunshine

Great looking soap, Neil. The composition of your photo is wonderful. You are a very mulit-talented person. Paul, been breathing a few too many lye fumes lately? I didn't see the man and cat. To me it looks like a galazy or nebula swirling around.

    Using goat's milk

If the store bought goat milk has been pastuerized, it will likely spoil, rather than sour. The heating process kills all the good enzymes the allow milk to sour. Same reason you have to add enzymes to pastuerized milk to make cheese with it. Pastuerization destroys milk and makes it rather...

Batch #27 Ultimate Poison Ivy Soap

Great, now I have soap envy and photography envy. Thanks a lot, Neil. Seriously, though, that is a very nice looking soap. We don't have poison ivy here (thank goodness) but sounds like it would be very soothing. That pic is amazing, what a cloud formation. You captured it beautifully.

    Exfoliating Question

Thanks Faithy and Tab. I'm not sure how I'll label it yet. Neil, I don't think your suggestion will sell much soap!!! I like "revitalizing" though.

    Exfoliating Question

Do you think labeling a soap as "Exfoliating" is going into the realm of cosmetic labeling? If so, what are other good terms? I use "scrub" for my gardeners hand soap, so would prefer not to use that term for a bath soap.

Brand new to soap making, in the research stage, questions!

HI and welcome. I make only goat milk soap and have been making soap for about 7 years now. This is the first year I used a "real" mold. I still use a knife to cut. I've used wax paper lined shoeboxes, pringles cans, all kinds of things for molds. Just choose a simple recipe with a few...

    Goat Milk

I'll second Paul on this one. Just recently I was cleaning out a cabinet and found some soap I made from my Jersey cow's milk. That makes it between 3 and 4 years old. Took it in the shower and the lather is nice, and it is so mild and made my skin feel very soft. The scent and color on the...

    Batch #25 Sea Side

 Oh Neil. Wow.... I can honestly say that is the most beautiful soap I have ever seen. I only wish I could smell it. That color combination and the ratio of the 2 colors could not have been better. Wow. Did I mention WOW!!!

    Winter Pics

Thanks for the tip, Paul. I'll check it out. It all depends on income tax at this point.

    Batch #24 Orange-Opium

Neil, I love that marble effect you are able to achieve. Whatever you're doing, keep it up. Nice shot of the squirrel. They are such characters.

    Kefir Soap

Thanks, Paul. Your mold is so great for the salt bars. I never made them much before getting it. Now, they're so easy. Glad you liked the kefir link. It is a wonderful healthy product and has been around for centuries. The grains are living things and scientists keep trying but cannot...

    Kefir Soap

I had to take a break from income taxes (blech) and make soap. I really wanted to try my new k. butter from the co-op. Also, I used kefir made from my goat milk (instead of fresh gm) for all of the liquid. This is a salt bar made in my great TOG mold. It has sea kelp granules and is scented...

    Winter Pics

Paul, nice camera! I am lusting for a really nice slr. Mine is the Dimage Z10, 3.2mp. It just has its own built in lens with a 36-290mm zoom, but I'm impressed with what it will do. The only time it dissapoints me is for long range wildlife shots. I like that's it's small and compact...
