    Building a soaping station.

Great-looking shelf, what a handyman you are! nice! one question: do you really need to store all that soap? If I get over 200 bars in stock, I try to move them out. Dust on soap is not pretty....

    Chocolate spread in soap?

What are sugar scrubs? I only make soap bars....sort of prefer to specialize in ONE THING, not sure why. Multi-tasking makes my brain hurt.

    my soap display at home

My husband made the trays, Deda. I have six more smaller ones, on legs, I take to shows. The instructions for making them are on our SoapMaker site. Click on 'extras' on the left side bar, and scroll down to see a sketch of the trays, click on the sketch for details. www.soapmaker.ca and...

    Chocolate spread in soap?

Here they are out of the molds now. Still a tad soft. Feels like they'll need about 6 weeks to harden up fully. They smell like amber and a hint of chocolate. The oil I used had some red oxide powder in it too.

    Chocolate spread in soap?

Yes, using chocolate in soap might be just an excuse to eat some chocolate! Would you believe my hubby actually dislikes chocolate? If he's given a choice of a fruit dessert or a decadent chocolate dessert, he ALWAYS chooses the fruit one. Craziness!

    Chocolate spread in soap?

Well for all you eager-beavers, here's a preview pic. Pardon the mess - as I said: it was gooey. I just now turned over the molds to take this pic, but the soap is very soft, only 3 hours old.

    Chocolate spread in soap?

Well I did it! and yes, nattynoo, I decided to just add a TBSP to the soap at trace. It looks very, very chocolatey. Pics tomorrow, when I unmold. I made a small batch, just 8 bars in plastic molds: 3 flowers, 3 fish, 1 Buddha, 1 cat. All are colored with red clay (and brown chocolate of...

    Chocolate spread in soap?

I couldn't do it. After sitting down trying to write out all the percentages, I blew a socket in my brain (just kidding), and ended up making two batches of my usual soap recipe. The chocolate is still sitting on my soaping table as I glare at it. DH says to just throw it away, rather than...

    Chocolate spread in soap?

It doesn't even have much of a chocolate taste - more like just palm oil. I am sitting down now to concoct a recipe for it. The side bar on jar says the fat content is only 11%, with 8% of that being trans fats....so I'm guessing: 8% might be the palm oil, and the other 3 % the canola. But what...

    Chocolate spread in soap?

I'm wanting to give this a try, unless some soaper warns me otherwise: DH bought this to spread on toast, but it tastes too fatty so I'm going to use it in a batch of soap. Ingreds listed on the jar read: Will let you know how it turns out!

corn oil, canola oil, soybean oil?

Soy causes some people allergic reactions (one of my customers told me); canola oil is a fav amongst many soapers cuz it's cheap, but I made a few batches with it and didn't like how it had less glide across the skin than my usual fav (olive); corn oil stinks in soap (I tried a batch without...

    I love beeswax candles but...

This morning we forgot to notice, as we lit the woodstove, that there was a fat candle sitting on it.....until later when the house filled with smoke and alarms went off while we were making breakfast. This is the culprit and now our woodstove is shiny, but will need more cleaning...

    my soap display at home

....is a bit sparse. This is thanksgiving weekend in Canada, and people will drop by to get a few bars. I'm not on the Studio Tour this year (tired, after 7 years of doing it), but people remember, and come anyway. I have more to wrap and will fill this as full as possible, but I've been...

my very first batch...let me have it! :)

Looks really nice! I like your recipe just fine. I use 48-50% olive in my fav recipe, cuz I like its hardness and stable lathering features, and it provides moisturizing too. A great soaping oil, imho. I like coc at 21%, prefer pk when I can get it, or do half and half coc and pk. I keep castor...

How can I make opaque soap.

To get opaque soap, I make sure it stays as cool or cold as possible after the pour. Don't cover it, keep it in a cold place.
