Lye to the rescue (not soaping)

I wish I would have taken before pictures, but I didn't. I think it's made out of high carbon steel.

Lye to the rescue (not soaping)

My husband managed to get aluminum melded into his drill press bit. Nothing would budge it out - I guess it was semi molten, jammed up in the ridges instead of flying out and hardened into it (it actually looked like the bit ridges were completely torn up). He was contemplating having to order a...

So lovely, and those peacocks colors with the swirl on the first one are just fantastic!

    [Rant] Store-bought soap gifts!

I feel ya! My family knows I'd be really upset if they brought home commercial soap, but I do hear complaints that my hobby has made gift giving hard for them. No more going into Bath and Body Works for easy-dont-know-what-to-get-them gifts.

    Fresh scents?

I adore BB Ginger Patchouli. Folks that hate patch actually like this one. It's a spicy fresh scent. BB's OrangeX10 EO actually sticks really well in CP too. BB's Moroccan Mint is very refreshing, sticks like glue and has no acceleration or discoloration. It's just a little toned down from a...

    Browsing soap pics

I've gotten almost that dark from Nurture's Black Pearl mica. You can go much darker than with AC and still keep *mostly* white lather. That reminds me to put some more in my basket for my next Nurture order. I like it sooo much better than AC. It mixes in really easily and doesn't make a...

    Celery in soap?

I haven't used celery, but I'd treat it like any other fruit/veggie: blend it up and strain it, freeze it, and consider it part of my water. I like to prevent gel on fruit/veggie soaps due to extra sugar, but that might not be necessary with celery since i don;t think it has very much sugar in it.

DIY no rinse body wash brainstorm

I'd go for witch hazel if I didn't have access to clean water. For my hair, I'd go for dry shampoo and count the days until I could get a real shampoo. My personal favorite is Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. I like this when doing outdoorsy things and wanting to grab a bite on the road home...

    White squirrels

Great photos, thanks for posting them. :) I've never seen white squirrels before. However, there is supposed to be a breeding population of white skunks in my town. I'm keeping my eyes out for them!

    Non-discoloring holiday / winter FOs?

MO Snow Witch is such a favorite of mine. I didn't make any this year since I still had a bar from last year that retained almost all of its scent even after spending all year hanging out with other soaps! This year my mostly non-discoloring ones were: AHRE Sparkling Snowflake. It was very...

    Ginger molasses cookies

Drool... I've got my holiday cookies already planned out for this year, but I'm copying down the recipe to try next year!

What has happened to my goats milk soap?

i get my GM powder from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K69OMU/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20. I've seen it in grocery stores, but normally they seem more expensive.

What are your favourite oils to apply directly to your skin?

I don't put anything directly on my face, but I love to rub in a bit of shea directly on my hands - especially my cuticles. There's just something about it... toxikon, that sea buckthorn doesn't stain you? The only time I've bought it, it was incredibly potently orange. I ended up discarding...

    A rose garden inspired soap

So pretty and elegant! The scent sounds exactly like something I would go gaa-gaa for!

This is a new one for me - anyone else have this happen?

I've had similar problems with certain FO/mica combinations. I almost always add my FO directly to my oils before my lye. When I separated my batter for coloring, only some of my colors caused: separation, ricing, or massive acceleration. These are micas I use regularly without problems. This...
