    FO Test - Nag Champa

Sorry, never heard of them. There's also Candlewic in Doylestown (I'm in Pa too). I looked at a couple of scent review forums and the only one that mentions them is the old Soap Scent Review Board. Didn't find a subtitle for Nag Champa but soapers seemed to like their fo's. Lucky you for...

    What would cause this?

While we're on the subject of molds, I've been wanting to ask you... do both of you use the same mold?

    Natures Fragrance

When I'm testing new fragrances I always use 1 oz. per pound of soap - it's just easier to use the whole sample bottle with the way I test them. When I first learned how to soap, the general rule was .5 ppo for fragrance oils and I still generally stick to that when making a batch for sale. My...

I believe that she is getting ash because she is un-molding her soaps sooner than you.Glamperbar3 by SoaperForLife posted Mar 20, 2019 at 10:26 AM I will try to upload a photo of a recent soap batch that I made in a silicone column mold for ED. In order to get it out of the mold, I always...

    What would cause this?

For what it's worth, after she cuts her soap (or unmolds it), she can cover the tops with saran for a few days and she won't have ash. Lay the bottoms on paper towels. Kevin Dunn attributes ash to the following: Appears wherever lye meets air: • —lye spills left to “dry” • —soap made with...

    Natures Fragrance

It hasn't been 60 days (why 60 days?) yet but Sea Salt & Orchid definitely. Sweater Weather most probably. Not sure what to think of Woodsman and stay away from Tobacco and Bay Leaf. The Mahogany Teakwood is one of the better ones that I've come across lately but they all seem to be a little...

    Natures Fragrance

That's a good idea. Lately I've been using the sample oils that I don't think will hold up in CP in shampoo and conditioner bar recipes.

    Natures Fragrance

Just soaped 5 of the sample bottles I bought from Nature's Fragrance yesterday. These were 1 oz. bottles and I divided the soap batter into 5 portions of around 17 oz. each. The oils were: Mahogany Teakwood, Sweater Weather, Woodsman, Sea Salt & Orchid & Tobacco and Bay Leaf. I am very...

    Jewelweed in PT soap

Try infusing it into one of your oils and then use the oil. Cathy McGinnis from Soaping 101 did a video on this on Youtube. Not sure if this is the correct video but if not, she might refer to the one I'm talking about...

    Cardboard lip balm tubes

You certainly could refill/reuse a tin. Even if you didn't reuse it for your lip balm, they can easily be used to store little odds and ends like straight pins or beads.

    Shampoo Bars/Conditioner bars

I'd be interested in knowing the specialty ingredients that you were trying to track down in the U.S. I also question how pH balanced her recipes are... does she go into that too?

    Scale review

Before buying a scale from Amazon, check Old Will Knotts for price/selection. He used to be one of the preferred sites for soap makers looking for a scale. Also, save your box and receipt when you purchase a KD model. I once had something break on my scale and I sent it back and got a brand...
