    Soaping Shed

They are all very lovely. I think I would need three in my backyard though :D 1- for soaping 1- for dyeing fabric 1- for quilting. A little cobblestone path connecting the three, and that would be heaven :) Janelle

What soapy thing have you done today?

I will. The top looks lovely now, and I cut them into bars yesterday. I'm just waiting for the insides to darken. There are swirls there. :) I was super psyched it worked! And can't wait to get some proper micas to play with adding color. This was so much fun, kind of "secret squirrel"...

Just curious as to who no longer uses commercial made soap

That is fascinating. I think its awesome that you are a beekeeper and have a hive. I love how our hobbies just naturally tend to lead us to other ones. I think candle making will be a fun addition to my addictions. :) Janelle

Just curious as to who no longer uses commercial made soap

That's so awesome. That's something I've been thinking about as dd's boyfriend just asked our permission to marry her. Should I save up soaps of all different scents and gift her with a year's supply at her bridal shower, or should I teach her how to make her own and give her supplies? Janelle

Just curious as to who no longer uses commercial made soap

lol--that's a lot of soap ;) How do the soaps of the foreign countries you have traveled to compare to those of our country? Janelle I've noticed that quite a few people make both soap and candles. I'm interested in candle making and hope to get some supplies this year for Christmas. I've...

Just curious as to who no longer uses commercial made soap

2 years ago I went to the local Farmers Market and bought 2 soaps (one cinnamon, one cherry almond) from a local artisan. I immediately fell in love with hand crafted soap. My bars ran out and the Farmers Market was closed for the year so I decided I would learn how to make soap. I watched a lot...

    Post your Gripe

ROFL. Bless you. I feel your pain. We are a family of 3 dd with a mom (me) who hates to shop. Thankfully they are now all grown and can take themselves to the mall. Youngest is a "fashionista" and works at H&M on the local mall. I blissfully haven't been to a mall in 2 years now :)

What soapy thing have you done today?

Last night I made a batch of cinnamon sugar scented cp in my new silicone 3 lb loaf that dh bought me for my bday. I haven't any colorants, so I tried something and I'm hoping it works. I didn't research first, but thought logically that it might be successful. I separated my batch 1/3...

    Aren't All Fragranced Soaps Cosmetics?

I'm so glad to read this. I was afraid I was doing something wrong. My soaps smell great while curing and when I sniff the bars, but the scents don't stay on my skin after the shower is over. Janelle

    Hi from Kentucky

Thank you! Kentucky can be absolutely breathtaking--especially in the Fall. We moved here 12 years ago from Southern CA and it has been a breath of fresh air. :)

    Advice pretty please?

I use these for the mixing, but not for microwaving the oils/butters. I do that in a microwave safe glass bowl and then pour into these. I mix my water/lye solution in another tall cylindrical plastic container from the dollar store and then combine the two in one of these and stick blend. I...

    “Made from people for people”

My question would be, does it pose any kind of infection control issue? Ie: if the lipo patient has an illness, would it be stored in the fat and pose any risk to the person using the soap?
