    Goat milk soap

I have a little heater in my soap room which is in garage. I’d say it’s about 65 -70 degrees… And, the weather has been all over the place around here. Any suggestions on how to combat this issue?

    Lye floaties

I pulled this out of my lye tank this am. I just made the lye a week ago by mixing 10lbs sodium hydroxide (from Aztec Soap and Candle) with 10 lbs of distilled water. Mixed it in 5 gallon bucket then poured in to lye tank. It had white flakes throughout although I stirred and stirred. After...

    Seizing and tracing too soon

I have the oils (except Shea butter) in heated tank. I heat to 130 degrees and then melt my Shea butter in the heated oils. My recipe calls for 1.5 oz of fragrance per soap maker 3. I like it a bit stronger so I bump it up to 2oz. Here is a pic of the first batch that began to seize. I was...

    Goat milk soap

I’m very late to this conversation, but can someone talk to me more about the solidifying when adding lye water at too cool of a temp. I am having this problem…

    Seizing and tracing too soon

Everything within 1 month old. I live near a soap and candle making distributor so my supplies are easily obtainable. The only additives are the fragrance oil and goats milk… thank you for replying! I add my goats milk to my oils when my oils are around 100 degrees to bring down my oil temp

    Masterbatching logistics and errors

Here is the recipe I use: coconut 30%; olive oil 30%; castor 5%; palm 20%; Shea butter 15%. I made up a 50/50 lye solution using ice and then the remaining liquid I use goats milk ( in the large batch case the oil weight was 10.43 lbs; lye water pre mix 2.94 lbs; fragrance oil 8 oz and goat’s...

    Masterbatching logistics and errors

Thank you for your response! In response I do have the liquid oils and the hard oils mixed together in the heated oil tank and one thing I think I failed to do was heat those oils up enough to get it all mix together well before pulling off the needed amount for that day of soap making...

    Masterbatching logistics and errors

Ok, so I’ve tried to increase my soap production and it isn’t going well…. Introduced heated lye tank and 20 gallon oil tank to the family. Soap seems to be lye heavy with lye pockets on occasion. I think my recipe is getting messed up because I’m putting the hard oils in the heated tank and...

    Masterbatching

Thank you! And, no I haven’t added an antioxidant. ROE is this rosemary extract? Do you have a particular supplier you recommend? The soap looks good, but I guess I’ll have to wait 4 weeks and give them a try!

    Masterbatching

Good morning… recently I scaled up my original recipe for masterbatching oils and lye. 55% hard oils. Tanks are heated and I soap usually around 90 degrees. Making approximately 15 lb loaves. I’m afraid I didn’t mix the oils in the tank well enough on the first 2 loaves because I’m getting to...
