    Lye & Labels ????

Here's a question then. Everything I find on the web says that, even for true soaps, packaging needs to state that it's soap, weight, and name and address of business. Those rules seem to come from the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. Now true soap is governed by the CPSC, and on their site...

    Confessions of a soapmaker

I think those are the same ones I have! I love them! I scrape my containers as much as possible and then use the microfiber to wipe clean, and so it's not a lot of oil. the microfiber cloths have made clean up a lot easier.

    Confessions of a soapmaker

you don't have to. I have a small kitchen and limited space where I'm at. I was storing oils in my pantry, but it's near a window and gets kind of warm, so out of an over-abundance of caution(and after getting DOS twice) I started keeping my unsat oils in the fridge. I keep my butters in there...

    Confessions of a soapmaker

👀 😂 I'm using no small portion of the fridge to store unsat oils. Sometimes, when we get to the end of the month, before I do my grocery shopping, we have more soaping oils in the fridge than actual food. 😆😅

    Yet another post on DOS...

I was looking at various posts about SG because I had some doubts as to citrates effectiveness at preventing DOS. I think I'll be trying out SG as well. I had read through all of your articles too, thanks for reposting the link. I find your site to be one of my first "go tos" for info. And...

Tampa or Orlando Area Supply Stores?

Edit: I didn't notice the date stamp on the posts here. @dianaabuela1 you may not hear back from the person you replied to (asking for the address) as the post you were replying to was made in 2012! 🤣 and the individual in question hasn't posted here since 2018. It looks like es premium is no...

    Yet another post on DOS...

Yup, you're right on all accounts. I think, overall, I'm good with many of the methods to minimize DOS (using distilled water, avoiding metal containers and obvious contamination, storing in cool, dark conditions - while I was afraid my store space was too warm, I checked over this week and it...

This turned out to be an ugly soap.

PS- I absolutely, 100% want a bar of this soap you made @Catscankim . Gimme. Oh, we should do a soap swap. Like a fun "soapy fails" swap. Soap that is still perfectly useable but didn't meet your own standards.

This turned out to be an ugly soap.

It's HORRENDOUS. LOL. The colors, the top, the weird marks my cutter made. And to add to it's weirdness, the bars don't smell like much. When I used it (just now) to test it(I need to take testing notes anyway),the lather didn't smell like anything but soap. And then... 5 minutes...

Can't anybody get regular sick anymore LOL

Oh girl, I feel you. I've been in complete quarantine at home with very few exceptions( and even those were always with a mask on, limited contact, briefly). And I think BECAUSE I've been spending more time home(along with my husband) my allergies have gotten worse, because now I'm in a tiny...

    "Cleaning" soap

Oh I tried that a while back! Like you, I was not impressed with the result. Anytime ;) That old adage about if you have a question, someone else does too, so you may as well ask it, really is true.

This turned out to be an ugly soap.

Posting this for solidarity, because I relate to much of your soaping experience I think, @Catscankim This is my "ugly soap" (seriously what I called it as soon I saw the discoloring). I COMPLETELY forgot about the vanilin % of my FO (Black Amber and Lavender) It smelled amazing at the time...

    "Cleaning" soap

Man, what a title. Anyway, as I transferred my soaps into their new all plastic containers(woven plastic baskets so it still breathes) I'm seeing just how many of them have marks from the cut, or slightly squished sides because many of my soaps were soft when I cut them because I 1. am...

    Feedback request, reverse secret feather

<unhelpful reply incoming> Soaps like these ^ (that earlene posted) make me cry. I will never make a soap so elegant, beautiful, and visually well constructed. Ever.

I feel this so hard, friend.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Moved soaps to all plastic containers and a cooler storage area. Also bemoaned that all of my soaps are ugly (except one batch) and I hate them. (Really I think some of them just need to be cleaned up a bit - beveled and planed or "washed" b/c they have cutting marks and steamed b/c...

    Yet another post on DOS...

Ok.. but hear me out. ;) I was transferring soaps from inside my soap island(limited space, among other things) to plastic containers to put in my linen closet and discovered two bars from a batch I made last year had little orange spots. That makes a total of three batches now that have...
