Lotion addatives to help with itching

I know this post is a few months old but I have a few suggestions for your grandma. Anhydrous butter/creams work so much better for dry itchy skin, than lotion IMO. Your own blend of butters (Kokum, Cupuacu and Mango) and oils (Jojoba, Avocado and Tamanu And Rosehip), essential oils (Lavender...

    Oils for Lotion Bars

I was wrong about the price. A client of my hairdresser (whom I saw yesterday!) told me that her client has two injections a year and her insurance pays $18K (US dollars!) per injection. That's Eighteen Thousand dollars!! Insane! But her plaque psoriasis was really bad and is now gone and no...

    Oils for Lotion Bars

I find Kokum and Illipe to be pretty interchangeable (maybe the kokum is a little more creamy feeling) but I have a large box of Kokum and only a small tub of Illipe so the kokum goes into everything!! Your friend probably might not have access but there are some amazing new injections (they...

    Oils for Lotion Bars

Abyssinian Oil is a fabulous all rounder. Great for skin and hair and has a zero on the comedogenic rating. If I had to pick a second, I'd go with Jojoba Oil. And Argan and Tamanu for splurges. There are some awesome butters out there also. My favorite hard butter is Kokum Butter, great for skin...

Glycerin ("or lack thereof") in dual lye shaving soap

Yep, that's what's awesome about it! Calendula and Chamomile are my go-tos! I love infusing comfrey into my Avocado oil for shave soap b/c it help with healing cuts and other herbs/plants offer so many benefits also!

Glycerin ("or lack thereof") in dual lye shaving soap

I make a lot of skincare products for ppl with eczema. A super easy and low cost way to get the benefits of healing plants is to infuse them in the oils you use. You can fill a clean glass jar with dried chamomile, and calendula flowers, and let them infuse for a few weeks (or for a few hours in...

Glycerin ("or lack thereof") in dual lye shaving soap

Sorbitol is a great additive for bubbles also. I reduce the glycerin (to 10% oil weight) and add 3% sorbitol to oil weight. I'm allergic to Shea but love Kokum, Illipe, Mango and Cupuacu butters. I did make a shave soap once w/o the stearic and raised the butters quite high and couldn't tell...

Best mixer for whipped body butter

Thanks AliOop. My inbox got a reply a few down. I should have just gotten up and fetched my glasses and read the question from the top more clearly!! 👍🏻

What soapy thing have you done today?

Maybe if you use a lot of water when you rebatch, it might turn out ok? I guess you could always try it and chuck it if it doesn't work! I use a lot of kokum butter in my soaps and since I make goat milk soaps, I soap quite cold. If my lye solution is a little colder than normal, it'll start...

    Face Scrub Recipe Help

I love Lotioncrafter for a lot of stuff, you have to factor in the shipping costs tho! This 4oz size on Amazon is $9.99 and on Lotioncrafter, $8.55 plus shipping...

    Face Scrub Recipe Help

I get my Abyssinian oil from Jedwards but it's a gallon, which is too much for most ppl. Only $61 tho, which is a good price. You could buy a couple of ounces on Amazon to check it out. Good luck with your scrub!

    Face Scrub Recipe Help

I totally get that! The eye cream you have would work great on your cuticles or dry skin patches so it doesn't get wasted. Abyssinian oil is a great oil for hair, face and body if you can only buy one and you can probably find it in small quantities and at a good price in many locations!

Facial Cleanser for mature sensitive skin?

That sucks! and good to have another rec for her if that stops working, thanks! I never had to deal with the major breakouts like my daughter does and I feel so sorry for her sometimes. I have to wear hats and long sleeves in the sun tho b/c most sunscreens bring on eczema with me! It's always...

    Face Scrub Recipe Help

There are many zero and low comedogenic rated oils that won't clog your pores. I've never felt the need to make a separate eye cream (laziness?!!) and the face cream I make is water-free, 100% oils and butters (b/c of allergies to preservatives) and has never caused break outs. All of the listed...

Facial Cleanser for mature sensitive skin?

B/c of allergies to preservatives, I've been using mineral pigments mixed with my moisturizer for concealer, blush and eyeshadow. A little goes a long way and some of the powders I've had for years now. I wonder if this could work for your skin? I buy EltaMD for my daughter who gets breakouts...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Nah, I'm like you! I love putting nice stuff in soaps. I have such sensitive skin, I'll take every tiny amount of awesomeness! I put a small amount of argan oil in my recent vegan soap and every family member that's tried my still curing soap, loves it and finds it really silky. I don't think...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I get a sample of the sandalwood powder with most orders I make at Eden Botanicals. Not sure if it will stay in a soap but I'll probably start those experiments at some point. Facial masks, etc, could be a good use and it's an affordable gentle smelling option.

What soapy thing have you done today?

There might be! I love lavender but used to get sick if I smelled patchouli. I blend Lavender with Geranium and Himalayan Cedarwood. That cuts down on the medicinal smell and is quite nice. We live in SoCal but my husband is visiting family up in Northern Cal this week and he was floored by...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Kokum is really high in Stearic Acid which helps with creamy stable lather and a nicely solid bar. I also use it for stable rich lather in my shave soap. (And my skin and face creams, lip balms, etc., I love it!!) But I'm also loving Cupuacu Butter these days for it's moisturizing creamines.
