    What's your next soap experiment?

Coffee soap is next on my list.

What do you use to cut your CP soaps?

I use Chuck Norris....or perhaps a chef's knife. I need an automated process.

    Citrus Soap Challenge

It is slightly basic when dissolved in water. pH of a baking soda/water solution runs between 8-9. Hence the baking soda/vinegar reaction that we all know and love to make CO2 for homemade rockets, volcanoes, and baking.

    Citrus Soap Challenge

Just stumbled across this thread. Anyone tried just using baking soda to neutralize the acid of the citrus? Perhaps I missed that in the discussion.

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

It would be interesting to see if it is the simple additional superfatting that produces a better rinse or the resulting salt created by the acid/lye reaction that helps out...perhaps by locally softening the water????

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

Well I tried this recipe yesterday. 40% Olive, 30% Avocado, 20% Castor, 10% Shea Butter. Did 1:1:1 Peppermint, Lavender, Eucalyptus EO. Added 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp ascorbic acid, and 1 tsp clay per pound oil. No color. Actually solidified pretty quickly, cut after 18 hours. We'll see how it...

    Building a website

I recommend squarespace.com. They now have a merchant option so everything you need is in one place. If I EVER get around to selling anything of mine, that is what I plan to use.

Lotion bar for my 2 year old....

Sounds good, I will try that. Any tips on how to prep the oil? Do you just steep the oil with the canlendula and nettle for a while to extract the yummy goodness? Any suggestions on amounts? Thanks for the help!

Lotion bar for my 2 year old....

So as I continue to poke around this world of homemade soaps and lotions, I noticed that lotion bars appear to be pretty easy to make. I was thinking of trying to make one for my 2 year old whose face breaks out pretty frequently in what I would call a mild case of eczema/inflammation. Usually...

My whole house smells like grass

I have both of those scents in my toolbox (from WSP), but I haven't tried them yet. The grass out of the bottle is a bit overpowering and nauseating.

    Napalm

Thanks everyone. I haven't quite figured out the scent/color connection yet. :)

    Napalm

My first in the pot swirl. I think I took out too much of the base to make the colors. Still looks cool I think. Scented with OMH (you could guess that right!??!) ;)

How much Soap did you make this weekend?

    1. 10 2. 1 3. OMH 4. Red, yellow, and brown oxides. I have such a limited supply of colors right now. Tried an ItP swirl, but I think i pulled out too much for the colors and didn't leave enough in the pot, so it may be more mixed than I'd like it. Still need to cut it tonight.

    Who do you use?.....

Not trying to convince you to buy a laser printer, but I believe toner is less expensive than ink jet per page of printing. Also, ink jet colors will dry out if not used often, while laser toner cartridges will not.

    cigar bands

Wondering if you can just buy the film and use a hair dryer to shrink it. Not sure how you would seal the ends though. :problem:
