What soapy thing have you done today?

FYI - the safe zone for EO usage is 3%, or 0.5oz ppo. The rate you've used is double....

I should not soap when i'm....

I would, however, I'm not really into cupcake soaps (I can barely make a real cupcake), and I'm on a bit of a soaping hiatus until my house is in order (just moved countries). I'd love to see your version though!

Hilarious!!!! Maybe next time, try decaf?? Can't wait for cut pics! And I, too, envision an avocado coffee soap. Maybe in cupcake form to look like the beverage...

Soap turns oak soap dish black

if you make non-100% OO soaps, you can use at the 4 week mark.

Soap turns oak soap dish black

soap is also naturally alkaline. could be the water plus the alkalinity of the soap that's turning your soap dish a different colour. 100% OO soap gets better the longer it cures (think of it like wine) - some say 4 months, other 6, others at least a year, and some say even 2 years is...

    Aleppo Soap! The real thing!!!

not being able to find laurel oil could be a weird thing in Syria too. I had a friend visit Lebanon last year, and she said they won't let ANY Lebanese olive oil out of the country. she wanted to bring some to share b/c it tasted so darn good, but they don't sell like that and apparently...

if you want to water replace, I think 10% is a good start so you don't have too much of a water discount to work with on your first batch. I've never put gse in my soaps, and I have yet to have any go bad. the oils/butters you use don't go rancid easily. see this link...

    Aleppo Soap! The real thing!!!

I don't think there's anyone in the US that sells bay laurel oil. If you search through the forum, you'd know there have been lots of people looking (and talking about it), and not many with success on this side of the pond. your local middle eastern market will be your best bet. good luck.

I agree with OliveOil, decrease your CO and up the OO. with respect to the butters, are you using them for luxury purposes or adding hardness or just b/c you have them on hand? my recipe that i've been using has a butter in it, and i've gown down 10% with the butter and the bar is still hard...

what a luxurious bar you've come up with! aloe - are you using that to replace your water or just as an additive? I would say with tea tree, it's really strong. the recommended EO amt to use is 3% (so 0.5oz ppo), so you can start with that, or go with something less and see if you...

    Crocheted Afghans

beautiful!! I never had the patience for making blankets (it's on the list though). i've crocheted a couple doilies. I'm more of a knitter...biggest thing i've knitted was a sweater, and it looked kinda wonky, and only one colour. lol. keep up the great work!

    Aleppo Soap! The real thing!!!

well, guess unless someone here goes to Syria or someone with in depth, first hand knowledge about Aleppo soap can speak on whether or not it's supposed to be green, one can only speculate by all the articles on the internet (any of which can be true or false). for now, I will enjoy having...

    Aleppo Soap! The real thing!!!

CaraDawn, here's the article I read. if it's super green, it means less laurel oil, and cheaper ingredients. http://hildablue.com/2013/04/26/aleppo-soap/ and again, I haven't cut into the soap. here's another Aleppo soap history write up. http://www.historische-aleppo-seife.de/engl_story.html
