    Swirls didn't work?

You could try it again with a thicker hanger, but don't take my word for it (I never tried the technique). It still looks good. :) Since it was said that the charcoal will make the soap thicker, why not layer the thinner portion on top of it? Or will that not work?

    my first 100% olive soap...

Straining it did not occur to me and a few of the bits looked like finely grated carrot left over from an empty salad bag. -_- It's a shame since the soap feels good in it's 2nd day of existence.

    Sharing an EO recipe

I think my combo has grounding & earthy qualities to it (frank & myrrh, patchouli) with a nice woodiness (cedarwood) and a touch of sweetness (benzoin). I can't tell you how much of what I used only because it was a work in progress that I messed up when I mistook listia for the cedarwood :-(...

    my first 100% olive soap...

I finally made a 100% olive soap utilizing OO pomace, half & half, and carrot puree. I just cut it a little earlier and it came out nicely. However, I found that bits of carrot was not purreed (I thought I pureed it perfectly) and I am at a loss as to what to do. I don't want to leave the soap...

Why is Dr Bronner Baby Mild so soft

Why would liquid soap be harder if it utilizes KOH in addition to a lot of CO? I never made a liquid soap with KOH, just a snot-like liquid soap from residual NaOH soap as an experiment.

    Another disadvantage for a Newbie

Why not try to make a HP soap? Those are the soaps that you can use a day or two after they are made, though they can still benefit from a nice cure.

    Sharing an EO recipe

:) I just looked up the difference between cinnamon bark & cinnamon leaf. E how confirmed what you said while livestrong.com compares cinnamon leaf to cinnamon bark. Since this site gave a clear indication on how both EOs are used. In the end, your right on one thing: cinnamon bark is not well...

    Frankincense resin

YES! Thank you for the idea, especially since I live within walking distance of a store that sells frankincense & myrrh. :D

    Sharing an EO recipe

I don't have anise or clary sage, but I do have patchouli, clove, & cinnamon bark among other oils. :) That sounds like an interesting line-up too so I'll wait it out to try. Here is one of my favorite combos: frankincense myrrh benzoin patchouli cedarwood (before my reaction came about) :(...

Soap additives & specialty ingredients - what do you use?

Here is a list of what I tried: baby food: mango, carrot, pear, banana. infusions: black tea, green tea, white tea/herbal mix, chamomile, peppermint, coffee. beer: Guinness Stout, Blue Moon Rounded, Six Point Resin, Modela Negra (I hope I spelled it right). dairy: 2%yogurt, half & half...

    EO's for spa diffusers

It depends on your preferences, but I'd suggest diluting the FO's if you are just starting to use a diffuser. You never know whether you will have an allergic reaction or sensitivity to an oil. The same applies to EOs btw.

    What happens when you try

I think I had that moment earlier with my carrot-beer soap. It overheated, inflated, and I had a "genius" thought of mixing the soap about to fix it. It looks worse now than if I had left it alone. Ya win some, ya lose some.

    Homemade coffee butter

Thank you for the tip! It shall not be long...

    My first CP

the soap looks like it's depicting a city, but very nice, especially for a first cp. Congratulations! :D

    Homemade coffee butter

This is interesting. I have never used coffee butter, but it now sounds like another infusion that one could make if they wanted. Very interesting and helpful. :)

    Pumpkin pie spice

It looks good enough to eat and I have yet to eat breakfast.

Need to vent about accurate labeling & customer service

I think you may as well drop it as you already informed them about your issue and the need for clear differentiation of FOs & EOs. It's on them if they chose to not make a clear distinction.

I never knew this would happen...

Thank you for your replies. It makes me sad only because I primarily wanted to try a different pest control (Peppermint it #1 so far). However, I am grateful that I have a friend that will take them. :) @Susie: I already have an appointment with one coming up (it's quite the coincidence that...

    Creamy, clove goodness
