    Single oil bar test

Thank you for posting these, I think over the past year I have developed an addiction to all these single oil soap experiments and all the results ppl in different places get. Olive oil is a challenging oil in single soap recipes, so don't worry about it (as you probably already know, it will...

It is with great sadness. . . .

I am really sorry kitterz, but life is like tnat, with exciting adventures that makes us happy, and with challenges that we hate, but which give us a chance of feeling triumphant once we over come them. One thing also not to forget to take is your recipe book....I moved often, and the thing...

    Harming oneself with lye water

Like everyone told you do go and see a doctor., as they are the ones who can really help you find out what is going on, and give you a solution for it. But also do not hold your breathe when outside or you will just take a bigger inhale of the gases that are still at work when you breathe in...

    Are FO's making me sick?

Hi and welcome candle chandler, I am new here but not to the world of soap and cosmetics making. I have no idea if it is true or not. But will mention it, as I to used to get sick from the smell of some fragrance oils. Then once years ago in a soap making workshop, after sniffing too many EO's...

New soaper needs advice about local ingredients

Is ordering from a UK based supplier also out of the question? I'm gathering a list of UK suppliers atm, but these guys seem to have everything and are bad in Bideford, Devon, but naturally ship all over http://www.thesoapkitchen.co.uk

    My Packaging

Firstly good on you for starting soap making....after starting that hobby more than a decade ago, it is one of the few things in life I was so happy I took up I continued. However even till today I will not sell my soap, maybe gift it to friends, family, anyone I feel good about etc But if you...

No More Fighting CO Out of the Jar!

Madpiano, is it possible to put this bottle in a warm water bath for a while (so as not to break it) and then pour the contents into a little bucket or any wide mouthed jar?

How Can I Make It Better?

Thank you Lisa, you are absolutely correct in that. I just started doing that to the supplier page (it looks messy but I will work on it in the next few days) And will do what you suggested for the essential oils and perfume making page to? Thank you very much for the helpful suggestions :)

    Pricey soap!!!

Ah that brand again! Their under eye concealer is the thing they are really known for...but even that is cheaper than their soap lol. Ironically there is a whole market of consumers who would only buy something if they know it is expensive BUT times are changing! a report I read somewhere...

How Can I Make It Better?

Thanks for the input Dana! I will add a few more suppliers overnight, and then see how I can categorise with "everything" or " oils and butters" only.....for tkb trading, I thought I would just add it there even though it is only colours....but forgot how I came up with that reasoning haha Will...

How Can I Make It Better?

    How to get gritty lotion

I think there you have it! making a smaller batch, mixing everything in the same pot. Do not temp the butter first, and heat very thing including the beeswax together and not seperately, and see how it goes, then let us know!

    How to get gritty lotion

I think the trick with your first batch is that you did not cool it fast actually. Shea butter had always stayed grainy for me, if I didn't melt it and then cool it very fast before whipping. Did you nuke it at the same temperature, and stir it the same way the second time around? And was the...

    Cocoa butter

It is a wonderful ingredient to harden soap and makes rich lather. Coconut oil can be too drying for some so adding bit of cocoa butter would impart some softening qualities, but it is a it too expensive for soap for some people....but like others told you, a bar with the right amount of coca...

How Can I Make It Better?

I started this quite a while ago as weebly makes things too easy, and would like to know how I can I improve it. The website is a directory, for bath and body suppliers, essential oil suppliers, and perfume making suppliers. A lot of the links will take you straight to the sales page of the...

    weird warning

If sweet cakes is the fragrance oil company do ewhere in New York, then I would trust them. I ordered from them a long time back, and their products were above expected, and all their advise about using them was in place. What happens is many different companies sell clove and orange oils made...

Does 100% olive oil soap take longer to cure

Definetly misfires, as it is a soft oil(that is liquid at room temperature) As has been mention the hard oils ( coconut,Palm, tallow etc) when added help it harden faster. Try replacing ten or twenty percent of the olive with coconut or Palm, and see if you like it better. On the other hand...
