Did I ruin my syndet bars?????

I also vastly prefer a syndet bar over soap for my hair. Soap makes my hair a gross, dry, tangled mess. Syndets are shampoo, and my hair adores them. I also love a syndet body bar, as they can be so gentle and moisturizing. Dove is a syndet bar. I agree to check out Swifts blog for a...

Pregnant and making products....what should I not be using?

I crafted when I was pregnant but avoided all essential oils and fragrance oils, surfactants, and herbs. I just did basic lotions and anhydrous products with no fragrance or infusions. I had a miscarriage before getting pregnant with my boy, and was very cautious as well. Craft away, but...

    Lotion for pregnant womens belly?

Seriously. I only ended up with one, but I slathered myself in cocoa butter, shea butter, rich oils and Vit. E throughout. I kept joking that I would be the final proof of whether topicals worked to prevent stretch marks, because if I got them after all of that nothing can work! I even had a...

    your fav emuslifier & why??

I use Polawax in most of my basic lotions because it is so reliable. I love Ecomulse/Natramulse/Ritamulse (Glyceryl Stearate (and) Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate) in scrubs and bars, but find it too draggy and dry for lotions. For hair products it's BTMS (behentrimonium...

Making my first lotion bar, a little guidance?

I love coconut oil and kokum butter in my lotion bars. I like a mix of heavy and light oils, so I use avocado and fractionated coconut as well. I love beeswax, but if you have any candelilla give that a try. I find my candelilla bars have so much more glide (and they can be sold as vegan)...

    Whipped Shea Butter

I do 80% shea, 16% oil, and IPM (Isopropyl myristrate) and Cylcomethicone at 2% each. I love the glide and the less greasy feel that the addition of the cylco and IPM impart. HTH!

    Hemp Lotion ???

I don't use hemp oil anymore because of the short shelf life and the strong smell. It just goes off so quickly! I would make the product but definitely include more stable oils and plenty of antioxidants. Maybe you can explain to this guy why the other oils benefit skin. The average consumer...

    Lotion for pregnant womens belly?

When I was pregnant I found that anhydrous butters and balms, and shea in particular, made me itch like crazy! It was terrible. A nice, thick, water-based body butter kept my skin soft and soothed the itching. Swift has several formulas on her blog (http://swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.com/). I...
