So patience is the trick. Thank you.

Tricks for getting fragrance out of silicone?

Third post here in a few days, soz, I will calm down soon. The first flush of a new hobby is always like this for me. :) Do fragrances stick in silicone molds for everyone? Are there tricks to limiting that? I'm having a dickens of a time with the peppermint smell in my small bar mold and the...

What soapy thing have you done today?

"Time cures all soap" is a really comforting line.

How can I tell if a batch wasn't emulsified?

Amazing. Thank you so much. My newbie notepad is filling up fast. Thanks for this. I watched that video once but I think I need to watch it a bunch of times to make it stick.

How can I tell if a batch wasn't emulsified?

Yup, that is exactly what I did. It looks like it worked out to 26.52% lye concentration. No wonder. Thank you! I actually learned about lye concentration between making that batch and my next one, so the one I'm unmolding this morning is 33%. No surprise, it set up gorgeously.

How can I tell if a batch wasn't emulsified?

I did cut it, and it was soft and messy but nothing leaked or came apart. Lesson learned, thank you. Bonus question: if I had taken the batter to a thicker trace, would it have set up faster?

How can I tell if a batch wasn't emulsified?

Of course, silly of me. 125g palm oil 75g coconut oil, 76 25g shea butter 200g olive oil 75 sweet almond oil + 68.58g NaOH 190g water + 23g lavender 40-42 Related, I feel like that was too much lavender. Should the fragrance weight be in proportion to the oil weight or the total batch weight...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Update: I have flunked patience. Unmolded it just short of 48 hours even though it's still soft. I was able to cut it, but it was messy. Now trying to figure out whether it was actually emulsified when I poured it (posted the question in the beginner thread), or genuinely my only problem is that...

How can I tell if a batch wasn't emulsified?

I made a cold process batch two days ago and I'm not sure whether it wasn't fully emulsified when I poured it, or it's just taking ages to set up. It holds together, it's just very soft and crumbly and the top looks like there was a little gel phase in the middle (slightly more translucent) but...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I tried to unmold my third batch of soap ever. Less successful than the making part was yesterday. 😄 It's well softer than the previous ones and it tried to crack. Giving it more time, but it's in the only mold I have so it's difficult to be patient! (edited to correct spelling)

Would you be willing to share how much of those oils you use? That sounds like just the kind of bar I want.

I made my third batch of soap ever! First time using fragrance and wow do I have some things to learn. Everything smells like lavender.

Don't mix your lye solution in glass

I know, it says that all over the forum! It's in the very first thread I read when I joined, where you nice mods explained why more experienced soapers might yell a little if we say we're doing something dangerous! But I didn't know until I joined the forum, which was today, so I have used this...

All of these are gorgeous. I'm too new to participate in the challenges officially but I am 100% going to be making these as soon as I start using colorants. Great work y'all, so inspiring.

    Good morning! New here!

Thank you! I'm definitely far on the side of moisturizing & superfatting rather than cleansing, so I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being more of skincare bar than much of a cleaner. That might have helped with smoothness. But! It is technically soap! And thank you!
