What soapy thing have you done today?

"I started showering two days ago... and haven't stopped yet!" Since that first batch I've learned about Zany's No Slime Castile and made some of that recipe. I'm looking forward to trying it, too. Thanks for the pointer on white vinegar; I'll check that out! These oval bars of the borax and...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I started showering two days ago with soap from my first batch of Castile from April. I now understand the term Slimy Castile; fortunately, I don't mind it. The soap lathers like crazy on the scrubby, and seems very mild. I'm not crazy about it compared to my honey soap, but it is nice.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I would never have thought of using the cube shape for soap, and I agree that it looks very awkward. I did use one cube so far that a friend gave me. It was one from Jordan, I think. It was okay after the first day or two, but I agree that oval bars are much easier to handle. I like your idea...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I had to go back to work today, but I took time at lunch to finish unmolding my Sunday batches, and after work tried out my stamps again. It's surprisingly hard to judge when the bar is ready to stamp, and to then stamp evenly and not too deep! I'm not showing the ones where the soap was too...

Trying to make first cold process soap

I'm also new, having just made my first batch on April 1 this year. I've been using lots of oils from the grocery; I've only invested in a couple of bulk purchases so far. Very delayed welcome to the forum!

    Aleppo soap with bumps throughout

I've never come across 'a cuddle of salt' before, and I love it! What a wonderful phase.

I love the Soap Henge photo! I'm glad it turned out to be air bubbles!

    Swirling

I'm just a beginner, so don't pay much attention to me, but I stick blend like crazy, 30 seconds at a time, and just peek in to see how it looks between blends. I'd expect that to trace in about 4 minutes.

    Saponification vs Cure vs Drying

Interesting, so the soap must 'pack tighter' over time. I'm sad that this doesn't happen to me. I tend to gain mass around the middle over any six-month span...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I, to no one's surprise, have rushed the reveal on yesterday's soap (hey, at least I haven't unmolded and dented everything...). Here are pix of three of the batches (sorry for the poor lighting, these were taken on my workbench with old school florescent lights). Okay... the oval bar is my...

What soapy thing have you done today?

After messing around with the recipe sheets for far longer than I expected, I finally started making soap at noon. About 5 hours later (including a long break for lunch), I completed a four of my planned batches, including the reworked 'hard as rock' 8% honey recipe that I had to rebatch last...

Thanks for that pointer, I'd not previously seen it!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I've got some sodium citrate I think; I'll add some to my next batch. There's been no sign of the spots growing, and the bars are hard and smooth, almost like plastic (I'm guessing it's the beeswax), and very nice in the shower. I'm keeping nearly all of the first batch for me! (me, me, me!)

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thanks for the encouragement! I know a lot of this will still be waiting for me next weekend, partly because of the parts you can't see (housekeeping, laundry) and partly because... 'long list, duh.' I really appreciate this generosity. It has given me food for thought, and if you don't mind...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I've no idea. I think my mom must have bought it for me at a gift store on one of our very rare vacation trips... or she may have bought it for a holiday and I absconded with it. We're talking about half a century ago... ;-) the memory is a bit blurry.
