CPLS : Seeking advise on formulating the recipe

I faced a not so normal scenario yesterday with this batch. last week I've taken out approx.166g of the paste and diluted with 500ml of distilled water (1:3) and very little amount of salt solution to thicken the paste. I didn't make it very thick just an amount to reduce the watery feel. later...

Adding Colors and EO to Liquid Soap

What about the shelf live. won't it degrade in the high pH environment?. I had an experience that the colour eventually faded away after few months of time. Otherwise this looks nice.

Adding Colors and EO to Liquid Soap

Last night I mixed three drops of food coloring E122 Carmoisine red to my already diluted portion of soap (500ml). It disbursed evenly & fast and looks nice. However, when I started about the color only noted that it is a highly water soluble synthetic coal tar coloring approved by EU to use in...

Adding Colors and EO to Liquid Soap

Thanks DeeAnna for the details response I couldn't find any details in the internet when I googled the phrase "detergent colors", I presume, it may be the calling name here for the product. What they told me was pigments are oil soluble colors that are good for bar soaps and detergent colors...

Adding Colors and EO to Liquid Soap

The detergent color I added to the last time batch eventually separated. I thought it was due to the absence of emulsifier.

Adding Colors and EO to Liquid Soap

I've made my 2nd batch of CPLS paste and preparing to dilute, I've not added colors or Essential oils so far. I would like to know your thoughts on the following, - Can EO be added to the diluted soap directly, do I have to use a emulsifier? I generally try to stay away from adding chemicals...

Getting ready to make my first liquid soap

why do you consider it as a KOH problem. I was told since we dilute the paste in water, the colorant should be water soluble, not oil soluble. However in my first batch I also mixed the water soluble pigment with in the initial mix and didn't know what exactly is the trace in CPLS and ended up...

    liquid soap separation

I don't think mixing up would help. I had a similar experience with my first attempt at CPLS where part of lye water separated out and settled at bottom. unfortunately I've discarded the separated water before seeking advice in this forum. you can read the post here . If you have not done...

    liquid soap separation

Irony is that in may part of the world, Olive oil is super expensive and Coconut oil is comparatively much cheap. 1 liter of Olive Oil would cost almost equal to 4 liters of Coconut Oil.

CPLS : Seeking advise on formulating the recipe

Hi, Finally I've a good news to share... After two weeks of planning and getting advises from you all, I finally managed to make my 2nd batch of CPLS which turned out to be perfectly fine. Although I've posted on the recipe and sought your advises, I made some changes to the final blend before...

CPLS : Seeking advise on formulating the recipe

Thanks for your detailed explanation. The place I sourced the ingredients said pigment colors are oil soluble hence good for bar soap only. Since the CPLS is mostly water, they've recommended a water soluble colorant (called detergent colors). I actually added this water soluble color in my...

CPLS : Seeking advise on formulating the recipe

Does sugar/Honey works as a preservative in LS.? I've added sugar because it said to be improving the lather. I used salt as thickener after diluting. It worked well. I have never added glycerin. Let me try this time on a test quantity. thanks

CPLS : Seeking advise on formulating the recipe

Thanks for the feedback DeeAnna. I've miss typed i guess. it's going to be 2.5% superfat, not negative. I read about using citric acid as chelator in one of your posts. Can I add Sodium Citrate to KOH soap, because citrate made using baking soda would be sodium citrate, which is readily...

Getting ready to make my first liquid soap

When you did this, did you encounter issues like EO not properly mixing with the soap and starting floating?

Getting ready to make my first liquid soap

Hi I see you've scented the soap with several fragrances/EOs. did you add the Fragrance when diluting?. what about adding color. Once I added water soluble color when making CPLS and let it sit for over month. I had some water separated from the soap paste together with the color. That's why...

CPLS : Seeking advise on formulating the recipe

I'm planning to work on my 2nd batch of CP liquid soap this weekend. I have limited options when it comes to variety of oil that I can source. My first batch suffered some issues, hence I has to discard most of it. I've listed the items in my disposal and the blend I thought of trying. Palm oil...

    Salt water in Saponification

Hi, I watched a YouTube video on industrial soap making in India. Apparently the said company is famous for making soaps scented with sandalwood essential oil. They say that the saponification is carried out in the mix of palm oil, lye and salt water. I wonder what could be the benefit of...

CPLS : Water seperation & Oily residue

Thanks all for your encouragement and advises. As I mentioned in my last post, I did dilute the selected portion of the paste at 1:2 ratio and used salt as thickener. It seems to be leaving less oily residue. The balance paste I have is the more like liquid, which I'm going to throw away as...

CPLS : Water seperation & Oily residue

Thanks, I also understand that there is no easy way to know how much oil is left unsaponified. I'll go thru the links suggested. I do prefer CP over HP in both bar & liquid soap making. I've taken out the paste what I left in the container and put in in water last night. Although it looked like...

CPLS : Water seperation & Oily residue

I didn't follow any specific guidelines. I followed the same steps in making NaOH soap and changed to KOH based on BB SoapCal. I kept the spinning blade of the stick blender well immersed in the blend to avoid creating air bubbles. It took much longer time than bar soap takes to trace. In fact...
