    Cold process liquid soap?

Here in Sri Lanka also It's not possible to find slow cookers and even if we find it'd be considerable investment. I use to make CPLS for household use. what I'm going to describe is the process I've mastered over couple of batches of CPLS. what I've used to do is dissolve KOH in distilled...

    DOS ; Soaper's nightmare..

When I was searching the internet for possible solutions for DOS and how commercial soaps avoid getting any DOS, came across a PDF by Kevin M. Dunn of CavemanChemistry.com , which details testing on different additives to prevent developing DOS in controlled environment. I think Mr.Kevin is the...

Fast drying the moisture to protect the franance

Why I thought this way is that by doing this we can avoid exposing the soap to air for lengthy period. The other method I thought was putting the soap bars in a air cooler and running the air overnight.. I'll try both of these methods any update which one works well.

Fast drying the moisture to protect the franance

I made a small batch of CP soap in December with Rose fragrance oil. The soap smelled so good initially. However during the 4 weeks curing period, the fragrance slowly became very mild and almost disappeared. Through out the curing period I kept the soaps in pizza boxes including good amount of...

    Please help me with cpls

I also had bad experience with making 20:80 NaOH : KOH soap. although it got diluted and became transparent, at 1:3 dilution, using the salt to thicken the soap became very challenging. ultimately I had to give up thickening and use the diluted soap while it was watery.

    Safekeeping & Storing Lye

Thanks @IrishLass for the advise. I make soap in small quantities. when I made CPLS base this weekend, I resized the batched to use up the entire pack of KOH (250g), so I didn't have to manually handle the lye too much. This was a suggestion I had when the SMFSoapCalc was built. unfortunately...

Advise on cutting the soap bars

I've noticed that most of the commercially sold soap bars are molded into different shapes which will have minimal area touching the surface, thereby preventing experiences like I had. (photo source) It got me into thinking of any possible ways that can be used by soap makers like us...

Advise on cutting the soap bars

I've given most of the bars away to friends and family soon after 4 weeks time. I tried zap test and it felt ok. that's the reason I distributed it and started to use one bar. Any reason to suggest longer curing time,

Advise on cutting the soap bars

These are the bars I'm referring to. I've used a pizza box as the mold. the bar I mentioned at the beginning was kept on a flat surface after use (not on a soap case) and it finally got really sticked with the surface and not being able to remove at all. Each bar was about 8cm X 5cm X 3cm...

Advise on cutting the soap bars

I started test using a soap bar I made recently. Since the soap was poured on a flat surface and cut into rectangles, all the sides of the soap are very flat. it is causing the soap to get sticked to the soap case very firmly. Since I'm using the soap once a day it becomes little difficult to...

    Safekeeping & Storing Lye

I recently had an experience that the NaOH purchased about a month ago gained approx 6% weight and the KOH partly turned into watery substance. all these happened while I've kept it well closed container. Since I was working on a bar soap I adjusted the NaOH purity and everything went well. With...
