It is exactly the same way, except that the weight is of one litre or 1.5 or two litres or whatever.would end up the same ratio, if you used a lye calculator

All this fuss, I would have no trouble with a lye calculator, I have good scales, I just basically wanted to know the weight of oil per litre without weighing for calculations in my head, I do not buy oil by weight and would rather not have odd amounts left over, but have resigned myself to...

The mistake I made the first time was to use a bamix and the caustic did not agree with the alloy but since then I got a very cheap new looking stainless stick mixer from a car boot sale which looks the ants pants.

    Olive oil cost

I may not bother with olive oil soap making except for a bit of fun as I can not find cheap olive oil, I can buy Turkish Castile soap in bulk as cheap as it is to make it, might try and find a butcher who will almost give away beef fat and have a go at tallow soap.

I don't think I would be that bothered using it,Aluminium oxide is used in skin preparation and has been used medically in the past. apparently it is toxix if breathed and may have problems if used internally, but I will not be eating it. OOPS more research needed the action of alumimium and...

    Castile soap and stick blenders.

Just made my first batch and learned a new trap for the unwary. I used one of the original stick blenders (bamix) without thinking of chemical reaction,(the stem is made of aluminium) I now have a batch of soap with an aluminium oxide content. It will probably be safe to use or I may have...
