I had planned to do a black and white soap that would have a sitting cat silhouette in the middle. Yea, that didn't happen. Mixed up my soap, a trifle on the warm side, but not too much I thought. Added my fragrance and ZOOM! There it went. Not so much that I couldn't get color added, but there...
I look at the cleansing number, I'm with Obsidian in that I want it to be on the low end. Other than that, linoleic and lenolenic are the only ones I pay much attention to. I want to keep those low, seems high amounts of those fatty acids tend to contribute to rancidity.

I use PLA filament for most of my prints, though I do still have some ABS for specialty jobs (very limited color selection in ABS). As a bonus, the egg is also a container so after you make your mold(s) from it, you can use it to keep stuff in. Just had...
I lined my vinyl coated wire racks with plastic embroidery canvas. Keeps good airflow to all sides, and keeps the soap out of direct contact with the wires. I can't really comment on how well it works other than "seems to be working okay so far." I've only been making soap for about 6 months, so...
Ok. Takes two pics to get a good view of it. Measured and the whole setup is right at 31 inches long. It's just these little single dishes lined up end to end along the back of the sink, so it'd be easy to make one as long as you want. Every so often I move the whole thing and wipe down the...
I'd say for the dragon oriented one, dragon's blood is a definite must. Maybe some other spicy sort of scent (which means you'll have LOTS of fun with acceleration, and maybe overheating... fire breathing, right?).
Space/sci-fi brings to mind clean scents with a hint of disinfectant. Lavender...
I've gotten my mold lined and prepped for a rather ambitious soap I'm going to try. If it works out, I'll wind up with a sitting cat silhouette in the middle of the bars. Planning on going with simple black and white. There's a good chance I'll wind up with glycerin rivers in the white part...
If you're ambitious, could always use made from scratch mayo, that way there's no worries over what else might be in it. At its most basic, mayo is egg, oil, and lemon juice.
If it were me, for anything over about a tablespoon I'd consider the oil in it as part of my superfat, and reduce my...
With the tequila, I think it would depend a lot on how you used it. Seems reasonable to me to treat it like wine, except to use less (because of the higher ABV). If you cook off the alcohol, maybe dilute the tequila with some water so it doesn't get too syrupy thick too fast.
I don't have...
Almost right. Couple of points you may have overlooked. First, is that when soap is first made, and for the first couple of days it's still got quite a lot of unreacted lye available. So, your batch wrapped up for transport, especially if it was soft enough to slosh, had very much enough lye...
Nope, nope, nope. It is, and forever will be, my queen size potholder. Maybe some day I'll find a really, really big pot to use it with.
(Besides, it can't be a rug. It's way too lumpy. Won't lay flat no matter what.)
Is it just one recipe this is happening with, or different ones? What recipe(s)? How much SL? Are you insulating? How? How long? What kind of mold are you using? All the usual troubleshooting questions. :)
Silicone seems to take longer to harden all the way through, at least for me. What...
I have a food stick blender and a soap stick blender. The food one is used mostly for soups, like my chicken bacon cheddar potato soup, where I puree part of the potato to thicken the soup. I also used it back when DH had oral surgery and needed a liquid/very soft diet for a few days. Did you...
I can answer some of your questions.
Indigo works best when you prepare it ahead of time. The most effective way is to steep a teaspoon or two of indigo in hot water a day or so ahead of when you plan to make the soap. Use that water to mix your lye solution. You can strain the powder out of...
My first inclination is to say it may very well be mold, just as it appears to be. But then, it's only on the part of that batch of soap that included the kaolin clay? That's kind of strange. I would expect mold to appear randomly on all parts of the soap.
My second guess would be some sort of...
I can crochet, too. What I can't do is STOP crocheting (in much the same fashion that some people have trouble when it comes time to stop spelling banana (any Discworld fans here?) ). As evidence of this, I present the queen-size potholder. Or would, if I could get anything like a decent pic of...
