About to make my first soap!

How long ago was that? I'd see if you can go ahead and still add the avocado oil in now. If the soap is gelling you could add it in. Not with the stickblender, just with a large hard spoon. If the soap is set up, you can either switch to hot process now and dump it into a crock pot with the...

    Pain relief/arthritis cream copy

I should start bringing my own tape... Only I'm not sure what stuff I'm NOT allergic to! Currently they usually always use coban after draws, and paper tape with IVs. But if the paper tape is left long enough I react to that as well.

    Fragrance oil company question

No one was being condescending, everyone was just trying to help. Many people want to sell their soap too early, and thats a concern to us all. Even if its safe soap, it may not be the best soap and do you really want your first customers getting that? To make money selling soap you have to...

    Deanna, I have a question...

newbie: her first recipe was the one that wept, where it drained into her oven and later the sink I believe. She said the photo was her second recipe, where she stuck in a pan just in case but it did not. The second recipe was the one where she combined the oil and lye mixture to a heavy trace...

    Pain relief/arthritis cream copy

This kind of cream is a heavy lotion. Heavy lotions (higher amounts of oils to water) are called creams, a very light lotion (less amount of oil to water) can be called a milk. So to make them you would follow lotion making procedure with your oil phase, water phase, holding period, mixing, cool...

    Soap molds from Etsy

Actually China usually has cheaper shipping than US sellers. I believe the shipping there is government subsidizing. You also find loads of free shipping on items on ebay from china as a result. I've bought silicone molds from china off ebay for 3 bucks with free shipping.

    Men vs Women

I sent it to my bf, and he replied "are you sending me this because I broke my fan when I was trying to fix it?" I laughed and said "no, thats just a nice coincidence."

    lye supplier suggestions

ED is my second choice. I was going to place an order from WSP to get a ton of lye and some colorants.... Without the lye, I can't afford to get the minimum order on the other stuff so I'm super sad. And they said they have no idea when they'll have lye again either.

    Deanna, I have a question...

Btw, the pink and purple was actually my soap which wasn't this recipe. In a recent batch I used a blue dye that morphs into purple as one of my colors. At 48 hours in though that section of the soap was still pink, and not purple. I was beginning to think I'd be stuck with pink. It wasn't until...

Calculating final water and natural glycerine amounts

I don't know of anyone substituting puree for oil, its substituted for water (or just added in additionally to water) in which case it increases the price of the soap over one using water. Is there carrot oil in carrot puree? lol. You'd need a whole lot of puree before you could compare it to...

Interesting, DMSO in the other one. Now that SERIOUSLY carries things down into the body from the skin. To the point you should really be careful of what you're carrying under the skin. It really freaked a lot of people out when it first hit the market. But then I believe it also was first used...

    Winding down the day...

I used to love coffee, until I got an ulcer. Now I rarely have it. Was about once a year at holidays with relatives really high quality coffee. Now its been a few years. I've always been a tea drinker as well, and tea came first with british heritage. So I'll never give that up. I'm such a tea...

    First Body Butter

It really is super easy to make them! With the Cerave products, you never know. Everyone is so different. For me my dermatologist gave me samples of their body wash but I was still reacting to it and getting itchy and had the rashes on my arms and legs. I don't know if the cream negatively...

    Sled Dogs & Iditarod

tl;dr version: If you're involved with service dogs in any way (prospects/canidates, in training, fully trained dogs, hell working dogs since people with therapy or SR dogs make mistakes) make sure you're familiar with both federal and state laws. If you own a business open to the public, make...
