Why does handmade lotion feel dry.?

Yeah, I need to pare that recipe way down, there are ingredients that are redundant and it's way too complicated, I get the heebeejeebies for days before planning a batch. I love hazelnut oil and sunflower as well, but have an unsubstantiated dislike of soy. Wish I were a lotion person, if so I...

    Milk powders and salts

And they have a high minimum order, last I knew it was $100, haven't bought in a while because of that. High quality, huge selection and excellent service though.

Why does handmade lotion feel dry.?

My recipe is kinda crazy complicated but everyone who's tried it raves about it. I don't sell it, just for friends and family. Yarrow tea, Aloe vera, Mango & Shea butters, Olive Squalane, Oils of Apricot kernel, Abyssinian, Meadowfoam. Honeyquat, Panthenol, Wheat protein, BTMS...

    Question on impulse sealers

Many, many thanks! DeeAnna, love the tutorial, ordering bigger shrink bands today. Your soaps and labels are gorgeous, LOVE the gold rush one.

    Question on impulse sealers

Very intriguing and news to me! Can't visualize how it works, though. I gave up on a couple things I really enjoy making because packaging is so time consuming and ugly. M&P and bath bombs. The bath bomb shrink wrap I've tried is never long enough to cover both ends, and in a humid climate...

How to label "FO" when wanting "natural" advertising

Good point about phthalate free. I won't order anything with phthalates for fragrance, or parabens for cosmetic products, and need to include that when I describe products. And good point on the second ones too, FOs and EOs :)

Planing soap - what type is best?

WalterG, what beveler did you order?

Planing soap - what type is best?

Just ordered one of the ForCraftsSake bevelers, a little disappointed in the 10-business-day wait time because that wasn't disclosed until the end. But hey, looks well worth the wait, thanks Carolyn! ETAL: Yup, Shunt, that's the case here too, will ship tomorrow, can't wait to give it a good...

How to label "FO" when wanting "natural" advertising

I sell, and would not think of using 'natural' on my labels. It also really irks me to see 'all-natural' on soap containing FOs. Also nonsensical labeling like 'essential oil of chocolate pear'. I have to wonder what else the soaper isn't disclosing or simply doesn't know what they're doing...

Using a heater fo with salt bar recipe?

Cavity molds and salt soaps are like bread and butter, at least in my experience. Takes all the guesswork and worry out of it.

    Plain soap turning purple

Nice job of deducing, Craig. Tap water can contain many nasties. For example, you would never want to soap with tap water in this town. http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/03/us/st-joseph-louisiana-investigative-audit/ Just sayin' ;)

    RE: Product packaging

Ditto here. I definitely want to see and smell. And I don't want to have to mess up someone's pretty packaging by opening it. Quote from OP: "I also don't want to be concerned with creating packaging for a entire line where everything has a different label." I make different labels for every...

    Help! Need fragrance storage solutions

I gave up on all but a dozen of the 1-oz sample sizes and chucked the rest (getting ready for a x-c move and paring down what I have to move). Minimum order for me is 4 oz, usually 16 oz or more so they're easier to find and cheaper to buy. I store in office boxes or plastic bins one layer deep...

    Where do you soap?

In the kitchen, definitely, I have to soap where there's a sink, totally finicky about any spills or drips. I mix lye in the sink, and recycle newspapers to cover all surfaces. Safety precautions latex gloves, socks, shoes, I wear glasses so don't bother with goggles, a minimum of shorts and...

    No stick blending

I almost never use a stick blender and often soap at close to full water. For me this requires usually only a few minutes of vigorous whisking to get to light or medium trace. I soap at room temperature. Always coconut milk split with water, beer, puree or other liquid, and always soleseife...

Newbie making soap for the first time... questions!

Ack, I tried to look at that site but gave up, the scrolling images don't allow a reader to focus on anything. I too see nothing about soap.

    Batch consistency

I made tallow coffee soap with used coffee grounds a few days ago, along with another batch, same ingredients minus the coffee grounds, and different fragrances. Had to wait another day to unmold the coffee soap, the grounds hadn't been completely dry and it made a difference. Consistency is the...
