    Issues Nurture micas?

First off, Happy New Year all! So I've been soaping with colorants from several different mica suppliers. I'm accustomed to using about half a teaspoon for a batch with 40 oz. oils to get the muted but very colorful shades I like. Have noticed with the last several batches using Nurture...

To mill or not to mill...

Agree that milling is not the same as rebatching, and the label should reflect what it actually is, e.g. milled with equipment (or just plain CP no explanation needed).

    The Grinch visited today

Our rural USPS mail carrier is required to stop at 5p sharp, so we got no mail at all today, I'm sure she was running way behind. Don't know if she has to have a GPS tracker on her, but maybe. I had a UPS shipment on the truck for delivery today, and it showed up about 6:30p when usually...

    Where to order tallow from

I've never gotten an email response from Soapers Choice, likely a phone call is a better bet.

Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

In response to the Spaghetti Puke Soap: Ahhh, haaaah, haaaah, LOL, you've given me a much-needed laugh! Looks like something I would make. It looks perfect for your local organic gardening or hunting/fishing supply store. Maybe with a clever fishing description. Worms and worm holes in soil...

Deer tallow soap, wow, it is divine

Very eager to see your new thread :) Yes, posting your recipe, any notes that might be helpful, and even a pic always really help us help you. I just tried a bar from another Etsy seller, and it also is divine. Goat milk with deer tallow. I am so in love. The glide in these is luscious, lather...

    Crumbling CP Soap!

Another reason I decided to simplify life and use 12-bar silicone molds :)

    cedar oil polish

It doesn't have ingredients listed? I'd worry that it's meant as wood polish and contain ingredients that aren't skin-safe. Wouldn't dare try using it in soap, but it might be a really nice furniture polish :)

    Sea Sponges in soap?

I made some CP ones years ago just for me after seeing some like the one in your photo. They were easy to make, just had to make sure the sponges didn't try to float to the top, poured at a thin trace. As expected, the more they wore down the scrubbier they got. I loved them. The hard part was...

    Where to buy containers?

Yes, Relle, I think that's a great idea! Ditto on the responses that if you don't give us enough information about your experience and given your intimation that you're new to this, you shouldn't be surprised that you didn't get enthusiastic replies. Hopefully lesson learned?

What do you do when you can't soap?

Handmade soap in handmade paper, how cool is that!!!!!

    Pet Soap

I stand corrected, checked the recipe I don't label, just for our use, and use babassu, not coconut. Obviously I haven't made this in a long time ;) Olive 45% Babassu 10% Avocado 10% Castor 10% Shea 10% Rice bran 7% Emu/neem 5% PKO flakes 3% Superfatted at 8% As for EOs, I'd carefully...

What if your preferred soap thickness?

I prefer nothing thinner than 1.1 inches. Thinner than that wears in the middle and cracks on me, and then I feel a little cheated, not to mention the waste. I don't like thicker than 1.25, beyond that they feel unwieldy and too big, I fear I'd break a toe if I dropped it :) 1.25 is perfect, in...

What do you do when you can't soap?

Great to see these wonderful hobbies! I like to take an hour out and watch a British crime series episode. But since I can't sit still I started hand-sewing little dog jackets for our two littles who get cold. Made from sleeves and legs of thrift shop fleece clothes. Family and friends saw and...

Deer tallow soap, wow, it is divine

Yup, first animal fat soap I've used, would love to hear comparisons among lard, deer and beef tallow. LionPrincess's instructions are fantastic!

Rendering tallow - does it smell bad

Wow, GREAT instructions, I will follow them as exactly as I can. Dang, I wish I hadn't donated my antique meat grinder to charity, ack.

    Pet Soap

I make dog soap just for our use, and it's proved much better and milder than any commercial stuff regardless of label appeal. Fabulous lather. I did try to sell it for a while, but even at a natural pet food store they barely sold, not sure why, my people soaps flew out the door. Olive/rice...

Deer tallow soap, wow, it is divine

So at the suggestion of several here, I ordered some deer tallow soap from Etsy. Now I see why y'all sing the praises of tallow soap. Incredibly creamy lather, my skin feels great, I'm a new fan. Friends have promised me the fatty parts from their young son's first deer, can't wait to try my...

How do I make my soap red?

Have used tomato paste and Moroccan red clay for a nice muted brick red. Also Red Hawaiian Alaea salt in salt bars. None is a true red, but the natural colors are lovely.

    Drop swirl - Christmas soap

OK this is me being just totally cranky. Lovely bars and lovely fragrance. Yes, you cut them too early, but you know that :) For my taste, I'd want a thicker, narrower bar. Can't tell length nor width nor how thick these are, but in my shower I think they'd break in the middle before I'd begun...
