could my soap be breaking me out?

I also have to disagree, as would many who have been exposed to poison ivy for the first time... Not everyone is allergic to poison ivy. There are different types of allergies and they respond in different ways. For example environmental allergies typically get better with controlled...

Please send some good vibes my way

I'm short on time right now, but look into the organization imom. Google them. Did anyone mention care credit?

    The Antisoap

With the OCM castor is the cleansing oil. You need to figure out what other oil works best for your skin, and what ratio of that oil to castor works best for your skin. (a few actually find using castor at all to be too harsh/drying) I first tried olive and my face HATED it, then I tried...

You know you're a crazy soap person when...

Important question. Now, was this Bible yours or did it belong to the church?

    Anyone make cheese?

Thanks, I have plenty of recipes. However I cannot find anything comparing the different methods and how they affect taste and texture of cream cheese. For making cream cheese you can use a mesophilic starter which contains bacteria that produce acid to separate the curd and the whey and break...

I did say unless you've had problems ;) Forums like this I type my posts to address a large amount of people who may be reading and not posting or come across the thread doing research in the future.

    Anyone make cheese?

Lsg, so you use mesophilic starter? Have you ever used acids or cultured buttermilk?

    Anyone make cheese?

There have been some interesting food/cooking threads recently. Does anyone make cheese? I'm interested in starting to make my own cheese, and starting off with cream cheese. I'm trying to determine how much of a difference there is in taste and texture between using the acid methods (lemon...

    Look what melted instead.

After reading a few cases of exploding Pyrex, both in the microwave and double boiler method (melting wax on all accounts though I believe) I don't use it anymore for things that don't melt quickly.

    Castile Soap drys out skin

I'd stick with straight water for washing infants (under a year) personally. With a little friction of the washcloth to loosen any dirt water alone isn't easily rinsing off. This to keep the acid mantle intact.

Cocoa Butter: More dryness/ chapiness ?

My mango butter is really neutral in scent, couldn't really describe it. My Avocado oil has more scent I think. Or it may just be because I put the Avocado straight on my face I smell it more. I've used straight cocoa butter on my lips. I have gotten a rash on my lips before, along with...

Cocoa Butter: More dryness/ chapiness ?

Everyone is different. Some people somewhere are going to be sensitive to any ingredient you name. I'd try some different formulations and see if you get better results. I like combinations, not really heavy in any one thing. Cocoa butter is a good emollient, maybe something else for fast...

Please critique my vegan lip balm recipe

I don't think you need to worry about comeogenic ratings for Lip Balm, lip skin isn't the same as the rest of the face. So unless you've specifically had issues I wouldn't be concentrating on that. Test the Balm before pouring, you can test a little bit on a spoon in the freezer to solidify...

Lip balm- First time and a disaster

    I buy beeswax pastilles.

Please critique my vegan lip balm recipe

Curious, why the PKO? Very little on the EOs, you don't want to exceed 1% (total/combined). I don't pay attention to how much vitamin E I add currently, if you're just making a small batch for yourself I'd say a couple drops or one vitamin E capsule emptied. You can really put it into anything...

Lip balm- First time and a disaster

You can also purchase small amounts of beeswax from ebay or etsy, and support beekeepers selling the wax directly by doing so. For what I'm picturing in the tubes I'd wash them before reusing so that it doesn't mess with the next batch you pour in. But depends on if they have any bits of solid...

    pH and experimenting

Do you mean taste in the zap test? If so, you aren't tasting a pH but "tasting" (quotes because its not a taste but rather a reaction) lye still in the soap. The pH will depend on the ingredients in the soap.

    Avocodo Oil?

I love Avocado oil, it's one of my favorites. I love to add it to soap , balms, butters, and I even use it directly on my skin. I use the oil cleansing method for my face washing with grapeseed and castor mix then moisturize with Avocado after.

    Yay whipped butter.

Wordy posts are fine, but if you break it up into paragraphs with spaces between them it will be much easier for more people to read ;) I had some trouble and may have missed things, sometimes I have trouble with my eyes focusing and text can seem to dance around and I lose my place. Paragraphs...
