    Got a great deal today!

Prices for what? It's not for sale, LOL.

To sell, or not to sell...

Who would have known? There goes a small percentage of potential customers now!

    Major seizing/acceleration

This is kind of a follow up to another one of my posts. In another post I talked about how I got some oils for a good price but they were a few years old (unopened packaging) Today I tried to soap with those ingredients that I purchased (including the lye) and I had instant seizure about as...

To sell, or not to sell...

Yes there are a lot of people making soap! But, with exception to water, soap is the only item in the world that every human being on the planet needs! And as far as I know, no one is allergic to soap. Maybe certain oils, but there are always different ingredients. So everyone is your...

    Got a great deal today!

You people are the best! I've actually trashed the Palm Kernel Flakes. This was an open box and was about 50-75% full. The flakes did not smell bad whatsoever, but some of them had a very very slight yellowing which I didn't want to deal with. There is a box of Palm also that is opened that...

    Got a great deal today!

Not really too many questions yet. I was just kind of sharing my experience. There was a 50 lb unopened box of Soybean. I've never used it but, it seems like there is mixed feelings out there on Soybean. So now I'm thinking my deal may not have been as good as I had initially thought. I...

    Got a great deal today!

I found another soaper on my local CraigsList who is giving up. I bought all of her remaining stuff today for a really great price. My wife was shocked when I walked through the door with about 300 pounds of oils! It was very interesting to be able to go through another soaper's stuff. See...

Settlement on top of LS batch

Coconut Oil 50% Olive Oil 26% Safflower Oil 10% Castor Oil 10% Avocado Oil 4% I'm high on Coconut oil because I like the big bubbles, LOL. Superfatted @ 3% I diluted at H2O weight = paste weight. I then added 10 more oz of H2O to get rid of the layer that forms on top. This is a layer, but...

Settlement on top of LS batch

OK, here's another picture after a day or so. It's not a layer. It's almost like a powder. When you stir it goes away. But it is not a gel or solid. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1i_UlulIOt3BAsDsRtClfXKe-sGlVyBlw

Settlement on top of LS batch

I'm getting this settlement on top of my LS batch in my croc pot. Any ideas what this is? The soap has been sitting in my croc pot for a few days covered. It is not a film. It does not have a texture and you cannot feel it. It's almost like a fine powder settled on my batch. This is not the...

    Another question please.......

When I've been doing this, I've been using the coffee as my lye water (just wait for it to cool a bit). I then have been using the used grounds. I've read somewhere (can't remember where) that you should use the used grounds (can't remember why). I just remember reading it, LOL.

    Liquid soap dilution

I have a recipe that I've been making. I start with dilution H2O = paste weight. Last time I had to add 5 oz of water. This time I had to add 10. So it varies even for the same recipe.

    Soaping 101 liquid soapmaking video?

2.5 ML (AKA 1/2 TSP) seems like a small amount. I don't know the volume to weight conversion for the oils. I've been using .25 OZ (by weight) for an 8 oz Boston Round bottle. Maybe I'm using too much? But it doesn't seem too strong. I understand this could vary by oil, etc.

    Emulisifier needed for Essential Oils?

Based on previous threads, its a good idea to use PS80 as an emulsifier when adding fragrance oils to LS. But what about essential oils? Does the same hold true? Do I need an emulsifier when using essentials? Are there alternatives to PS80?

    Germaben II Preservative

Thanks again!! Next question then (surprised no one else asked yet). Which fragrances are also preservatives? How can you tell which can act as a preservative and which ones can not?

    Germaben II Preservative

And I totally believe the members here who claim they've had stuff grow!

    Germaben II Preservative

Thanks Zany! This seems to be the one thing that the "Soap Gods" cannot agree on. In another post, I did an unscientific analysis on Etsy of seller's who were using preservatives. It was interesting to note that a large percentage of seller's do not preserve. This could become another topic...

    Germaben II Preservative

I added it POST dilution, but while still semi warm (increase in temperature increases solubility). The total weight can still change a bit during dilution (evaporation), which is why I added it after dilution.

    Fragrances started to harden soap

Thanks for the replies. My main objective was to start using up all those small 1/4 oz leftover bottles of fragrance. You seem to never use exactly the entire bottle. I have some PS80 here. I guess I will try it next. The only thing I don't like about PS80 is that if I ever do start selling...

    Fragrances started to harden soap

Just a local supplier (Their name is on the bottle, CandlesAndSupplies.net) Ocean Mist, Jelly Bean, Coolwater, Sweet Pea all had the problem. Blueberry Cobbler seemed to be fine.
