How do you get your soap to shine?

Do you use a clay bar before polishing? LOL! How do you polish your soap? I usually get no ash because I spray down with alcohol at pour.

How do you get your soap to shine?

When I make my CP soap, it looks very dull in color. When I take my 1st shower with a bar, the colors really pop and brighten up; it shines just like when you 1st wax your car! Anybody have any tips/tricks to get this nice shine without showering with the bar first?

How do you package for Etsy?

Took me 2 weeks, but I finally watched these videos. Thanks for this suggestion, They both have an awesome collection of videos.

Does citrus fade in liquid soap?

We know that citrus has a tenancy to fade over time in Cold Process bar soaps. Does this also hold true when adding citrus EOs (Lemon, Orange 10x, Grapefruit, Lemongrass) to Liquid soap?

    Cutting and unmolding

My formula has been Day 1: Cook Day 2: Un-Mold Day 3: Cut then cure. Seems to be working so far!!

Finally getting the hang of colors and swirls!

Looks great from here!! Noticed you did a loaf mold. It would be interesting to see the same thing done with a slab mold and see the difference

Preservative, Thickening, and Essential Oil; Which order?

"I found that while it did thicken up at first, it went flat after a while" Went flat? What do you mean by that? Thanks!! BTW, water for the KOH solution @3% superfat

Preservative, Thickening, and Essential Oil; Which order?

I got a nice liquid hand soap that I'm really starting to like. I'm using Germall Plus as a preservative. Guar Gum in glycerine to thicken. PS80 with my essential oil. This is a nice soap so far. It's holding together well, no separating. It's a nice color and it's a little thicker which...

Preventing clogging of Liquid Soap pump

I'm about 1/2 way through one of my bottles of LS that I made. I'm using it as a hand soap in a pump bottle (the regular kind, not the foamer kind). It's starting to clump a little bit where it comes out. Is there an additive or something I can add to prevent this?

Settlement on top of LS batch

Still can't figure this out. But I can get rid of it by dropping a clean paper towel on top of the batch; letting it suck it up, and then trashing it. It takes about 3 iterations, but works.

    Liquid Soap Preservatives Continued...

Funny, this post went about 6 weeks without a response. Now, it's getting many! My initial intent was to point out how many real sellers are not using preservatives (not saying I agree with them or not). It is kind of interesting.

    Body wash separation

Thanks. 12% does seem like a lot, lol. Think I'm going to try again without the AO or drastically reduce it.

    Body wash separation

I've finally put together a body wash recipe that I really like. It is 5 Parts Liquid Soap (that I made) 1 Part Avocado Oil 1 Part Vegetable Glycerin 1/2 Part Honey 1/2 Part Distilled H2O No scents or colors yet. I put it in a bottle and have been using it. When I let it sit overnight...

    Liquid Soap Preservatives Continued...

Citric is not a preservative. And there is really nothing natural that qualifies as a preservative either.

What do you do with your scraps?

Interesting. Wonder how the scent is with so many mixed together?

What do you do with your scraps?

I get a lot of scraps. For example, when I make a loaf, I trim the edges with a potato peeler. I started accumulating little scraps. Sometimes, I just get crumbs that fall to the counter top after cutting, etc. Do you save these? Toss them? I thought about mixing them all up together, but...

    Major seizing/acceleration

Process of elimination. I made multiple 8 ounce batches changing the variables with each batch. When I changed the Olive Oil to my fresh good one, the problem went away.

Difference in trace time Pomace Olive vs Olive

Yes in 2 minutes, it was a very heavy trace. Thanks for the answer!! The opened case was literally seconds, 2 or 3 twirls with the blender. I'm thinking the time may go up with a larger batch too, you agree? This was an 8 ounce batch. And I don't think I got the Orange with the fresh case...

If anyone was following, it was the Olive Oil.

Difference in trace time Pomace Olive vs Olive

Another follow up to some of my many others posts. Some history: I've found some oils at a great price, but they are old (like years!). I tried to soap and had problems with very very fast trace I found out that the Pomace Olive Oil was my problem. I started using an open box of POO which...
