Looking for newbie recipes (with specifics)

I'm a couple of years into it myself and enjoy it as a hobby. I totally hear you about getting overwhelmed. I was too. I got so excited I bought all kinds of crazy butters, fragrances and colors, as well as equipment. I have found that the simpler batches using simple ingredients have ended...

    Rustic escentuals annual scent event

I have that one. What colors did you use? Just curious. In my mind, it's showing up as bright white.

My first attempt at cold process

I know it's been a few days since you posted to this thread, but I just wanted to say that your soaps are really pretty. Also to answer your question above, I would recommend pure olive oil (versus pomace or extra virgin). Pomace can speed up trace, and extra virgin is too green so unless you...

    Rustic escentuals annual scent event

I just ordered. Squeeeee! So excited, but I did have to pay more shipping than I usually would. $15.68 to Colorado ::winced a little:: But that was 3 day air, which costs a hair more than ground. Gosh I bet I would pay more if I ordered the same 20 samples from brambleberry and she's A LOT...

    White high heeled shoe

Sort of a butterfly swirl, or the closest I have ever come to one. I'm calling it Miami. My mom sees a white high heeled shoe in each side, which I didn't see until she mentioned it. Interesting how the brain puts together images in clouds, popcorn ceilings and SOAP!

    Post your happy

I'm happy because I think I got a decent ITP swirl today. The last couple of batches have been so ugly and disappointing. One got so thick on me that I did the glop and pray and it's full of stupid holes and gaps, and one broke completely in half in the middle of the loaf at the mica line AND...

    My soap is drying

Hi abby, I know it's hard to be patient but all soap will be drying unless it cures, and curing takes at least 4 weeks (and as mentioned above, castille takes longer). Mark the use date on a calendar and forget about it (just be sure to turn the bars every few days or so. If you want to use...

    Margarita Lime Tequila

They are little day brighteners! Very "springie". I like them a lot!

How to achieve navy blue in CP soap

Thanks Kamahido. Question though- wouldn't that make a light blue? Dibbles I'd like to use what I have. I have both black oxide and activated charcoal. I have a few different blue micas (including the Klein blue that Kamahido mentioned above). Do you recommend the black oxide or the AC or...

Honey, mix with oils or water?

The only time I have used honey in a recipe is for a facial bar that I got from Jan Berry (The Nerdy Housewife). I love this recipe by the way: https://www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/cold-process-soap/guest-post/ She mixes it with witch hazel and then adds that to the batter at...

    Natural colorants

I have used indigo with mixed results. Some really cool, like when it turned by soap a pretty pink, and some really ugly gray. I have had good results with rose clay and the Brazilian clay sampler pack from BB. I have also used Alkanet which turned out to be a beautiful light pink.

Um, any advice for treating lips and tongue that have been burned by soap batter

It's not the one in the yellow tube. It's in a little white pot. This one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055OLROE/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 My whole family uses it on our lips at night because we get so darn chapped here in Colorado. I just slathered it on non stop instead of just using...
