    A harder, bubblier soap

Your proposed recipe is closer to what I personally like than your first one, but it's still a bit off, IMO. Like Sudsandsoaps says above me, I'd recommend dropping the lard to 60% and adding back olive, avocado or safflower (high oleic). It's just a better balanced bar, and it has less chance...

    Less oily body butter please!

Mango is definitely less greasy than Shea. A little beeswax might help you, too

    Accidentally measures in fluid ounces

I you used for absolutely everything you put in the soap, there shouldn't be any difference.

Is the silicone mold causing this discoloration?

Does the yellowish part zap? Does it go away after a short cure?

So as Soapers; is Palm oil vegan?

I don't disagree that lacto-ovo vegetarianism with occasional meat is the best diet. And I have no problem with traditional vegetarianism, either. I'm talking strictly of veganism as it is practiced now. Very telling, to me, is the fact that there are NO traditional vegan diets all throughout...

So as Soapers; is Palm oil vegan?

Well said! I'm sure I'm about to offend some people, but I think that veganism itself is a 1st world affectation that would fall by the wayside instantly in the face of ANY real deprivation. I came to this thread originally to post something like this. Anybody ever run over a nest of baby...

    Is making soap "just chemistry"

Oh, it was THAT thread, was it?

    Is making soap "just chemistry"

I think somewhere around 9 months after I started soaping I posted a "What Now?" thread here because I started to feel like I'd learned everything I needed to know about making soap. And to be fair to my neophyte self, I kinda truly had. That is, I had figured out the process side of things to...

    Shaving Cream like Cremo?

Oh, I'm with you. Takes a cult member to know a cult member. My advice to buy one first puck to see if he likes it was based on KOH and stearic both being sort of specialty items that would cost about $25 to get a working amount of - about half the cost of a decent puck from Amazon.

    Shaving Cream like Cremo?

There has grown something of a cult of shaving in the last several years. Shaving soaps of the type that Ivanstein is talking about are generally considered "the best" because of the way they build lather, cushion the blade, and help it slide. But make no mistake that this is still a matter...

    Beard oil recommendations?

Ugh, I can't see how you can stand to have that tamanu smell right up next to your face all day.

    Beard oil recommendations?

Just face (bar) soap, but my beard is more 1970's length than it is 1860's length.

    Another HP vs CP thread

When making the CP to HP comparisons, it is important to compare apples to apples. That is compare the CP process that will produce an outcome similar to the HP process. That means no swirls or a very simple design. For CP with one solid color, temperature isn't really that important...

    Another HP vs CP thread

I think CP is MUCH easier and faster than HP. With pre-batched lye solution, I can have a 750g batch of CP without swirls in the molds in 20 minutes. All the rest of the time is unattended.

How many millilitres (ml) is 1 lb?

Best of both worlds is to use a base 12 numbering system. So then 10 in that system is 10 (dec) and 100 is 144(dec). There are 20 hours in a day and 50 minutes in an hour. But there are not 1000 minutes in that day 'cause the multiplication tables are different. Anybody still...

Hey! Wait, I thought I was BG!?! I use argan to supplement a fractionated coconut base.

    Perfect Loaf Mold Size?

I'm going to presume to give you a bit of business advice, and I hope you'll take it as good naturedly as I intend it. You should decide whether you are pursuing mold making for hobby purposes or commercial purposes. Or at the least, separate the responses into those categories because the...
