Advice on beginning colorants and where to buy them, please!

Thank you all for the advice on colorants! I purchased some from both Nurture Soap and Mad Micas....the Nurture order got here in just a couple of days and my daughter and I made a lavender soap with the purple vibrance mica and some white kaolin clay. My Mad Mica order is on the way...can't...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I cut my first ITPS soap - a lavender scented one with purple mica (my daughter's choices!). I was really tickled with how it came out!

Lye/water solution has precipitation in it - can I still use it or should I start over?

@shunt2011 Thanks! I will look for a stainless steel strainer for the future! I took the soap out of the mold yesterday, but it was still too soft to cut. I was able to cut it today and here is how it came out - the different sizes of soap were because I wanted to see what cuts of the soap...

    Cows milk soap first time

Beautiful soap! Love the pattern from your upcycled mold! Could you show a pic of the cookie container? I am new and still trying to figure out what I can use for a mold...meaning will that seemingly flimsy plastic my cookies are packed in hold up to CP coap? Thanks!

Lye/water solution has precipitation in it - can I still use it or should I start over?

@Mobjack Bay - I mixed the solution outside, which was slightly cooler than here in the house. The specks were there outside and also still visible inside. Some of the solids would precipitate to the bottom. It is cool today, but no cooler than other days I have made soap. I didn't use titanium...

Lye/water solution has precipitation in it - can I still use it or should I start over?

I just ran this through SoapCalc again and the water:lye ratio is closer to 2:1, not 1:1. I am not sure why SoapCalc is showing this recipe like that as 162 grams of water is almost twice 85 grams of NaOH. A ratio of 2.5:1 would call for a total of 211 g water with no other changes in the...

Lye/water solution has precipitation in it - can I still use it or should I start over?

I am attempting to make a batch of soap this morning, a trial of a new recipe. Here is the recipe in SoapCalc. It is based on a Lavender soap recipe from LovinSoap, but I didn't have Rice Bran Oil so I substituted Lard and messed with the percentages of oils very slightly, but kept the SF and...

    Today’s Cuts

They are beautiful! I will have to try the sugar. Do you put that in the water prior to adding lye, similar to the salt?

What soapy thing have you done today?

Cmzaha, those are beautiful! What type of molds are you using? Do they come apart easily to take the soap out? Just curious...I am using "found" objects for molds still! Bari Holy cow! I want the recipe for the cake! That looks delicious! Your hubby is a keeper! And the soap is beautiful too...

Advice on beginning colorants and where to buy them, please!

Thank you all for the suggestions! I will look into each of those. Another question was about white...it that what the titanium dioxide is used for (TD)? Do you use that to make your base soap more white? Also, what black do you all recommend? Going to research these sites and colors! Thank you!

Advice on beginning colorants and where to buy them, please!

Good morning! I am a fairly new soaper and have been using what is in my pantry to color my soap so far, however I would like to expand that some and get some of those beautiful colors I see in other's soaps. I have searched the forum for colors, etc, but end up getting so many returns (and some...
