    Alligators in ice!

I couldn't help another nature related post when I saw this on the news today. You may have heard about frozen iguanas falling out of the trees in Florida, well here are some alligators in ice. Now, I feel bad for complaining about the cold.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nI4pAZY3sCo

    The eagles are back!

You're lucky to have them so close by. If you haven't checked out the DC eagle cam, it's really fascinating to have such a close up view of the eggs hatching and daily life in the nest. I hope the cam near you gets installed soon. You'll love it! LOL 'fraid not, not from me!

    The eagles are back!

For any of you, like me, who follow the DC eagle cam......they're baaaack! Knowing that they're back and making preparations for their next eagle babies, makes me feel like Spring may be just around the corner. Anyway, here's a pic I captured of mom or dad this foggy morning...

    Curing sented soaps together?

I cure my soaps on trays that are only inches from each other, and have never had a problem with fragrances migrating. But I store my cured, wrapped soaps separately, in individual baseball card boxes. I'm not sure, because I don't do it, but I think the paper wrappers might absorb fragrances...

Well, this has me stumped...lotion bars

Ah, just got home and read these answers, thank you so much! The bars cooled at room temp. I don't mind the pattern at all, I was just interested to know what had caused it. So it's the beeswax! I find it interesting that the spots are all the same size, and distributed so evenly. They look...

Well, this has me stumped...lotion bars

I made some lotion bars yesterday, using beeswax, cocoa butter and avocado oil. The oils were completely melted, clear, no bits of cocoa butter or beeswax remaining. When they cooled, this is what the tops look like. It's hard to get the camera to pick them up, they're easier to see in person...

    CPOP - Stinky Oven?

I CPOP every batch, preheating to 170, turning off, and leaving over night. I've never noticed any odor.

    Instant Chai Latte mix questions

A quick thanks to DeeAnna and IrishLass for your guidance in making my my chai mixture. I can't tell you how much I've been enjoying it. It was 3 degrees outside when I woke up this morning, and after my usual coffee, I was still cold. So I've just finished a big mug of chai, and it's so nice to...

    Crumbly

It looks to me like it hasn't gelled. If it's ungelled, and you cut too soon, it can have a texture like that, soft and crumbly. Does it zap? If it does, you need to wait longer to cut because it's still going through the saponification process.

    My soap bars

Those are gorgeous. I especially love your yin yang soaps. I've attempted that technique, but never got such beautiful results. Nice job!

    The Indian Food Thread

Well, I see another trip to the Indian grocery is in my future. When I walk through the door of that place, the aroma almost makes me swoon. The rows of fragrant spices make me walk slowly and inhale deeply. With winter upon us, this sounds like a good way to try and fend off colds and flu...

    Computer hates last MS update

    Instant Chai Latte mix questions

Thanks for that link, lenarenee. I also make my molasses crinkle cookies with double the amount of spice called for. LOVE them dunked in coffee! I like to keep a baggie of the dough rolled into balls in the freezer. Sometimes I bake them two at a time, just so I can enjoy them with a cup of...

    Instant Chai Latte mix questions

LOL, here's one of the recipes that I'm working from. This one sounds way too sweet for my liking, so I'm going to have to make adjustments as I go. https://foodretro.com/instant-chai-tea-latte-powder-an-epic-adventure-story/ Wow, I love the idea of making tea bags, I never thought of that. It...

    Instant Chai Latte mix questions

A couple of questions here. Let me start by saying that I love a warm mug of chai latte, especially in the cold winter months. Cocoa is usually too sweet for me, but a spicy, warm chai latte is juuust right. I know it's not the best, but I love the convenience of the instant chai latte powders...
