    What’s this discolouration?

Just cut this loaf. The recipe is the same I always use with familiar EOs, but there’s some odd discolouration (the lighter areas) on some bars, and only in the yellow (which was the top in the mold) later. Any ideas at what causes this? Hopefully it’s just appearance and doesn’t mean the lye...

Titanium Dioxide - water or oil dispersible?

Good to know @amd, re: micas being more vibrant. For some reason I was under the assumption that oxides were more vibrant. I think I'll stick to micas but definitely switch to water dispersible TD. Thanks all!

Titanium Dioxide - water or oil dispersible?

Hmm, I always disperse my micas in oils first to avoid clumps...I guess I've been adding an unnecessary step! And that's the exact thing I needed to hear. No matter how much I attempt to get rid of clumps with TD in oil, I'm almost always left with some. I will be going for the water...

Titanium Dioxide - water or oil dispersible?

I've only ever used oil dispersible TD and micas to colour my CP soap. But it's time for some new purchases and I'm wondering what are all of your preferred products for colouring - oil dispersible TD and micas, or water dispersible TD and oxides? Are some easier to use than others? Does one...

Palm Oil vs Red Palm Oil vs PKO

I stumbled across the Spectrum shortening while trying to search for palm oil and got all excited. Unfortunately none of the grocery stores near me carry it so I’ll have to make a trip out to Whole Foods and see if they have it. Via Amazon it was about $30. Don’t get me started on some of the...

Palm Oil vs Red Palm Oil vs PKO

I have never used palm oil for soaping before - I love the way lard makes my bars feel and function and my base recipe is quite high in lard. However, I have some vegan friends who have asked me if I could make some vegan bars for them. I haven't committed but said I would look into it. By...

    Fragrance Oils in Canada

Thanks guys. Maybe I will grab some Amazon EO to tide me over while I wait. A friend from the states said her candle supply place got fragrances to her in only a couple days, but unfortunately I don't think they ship to Canada.

    Fragrance Oils in Canada

I hope this is the right section to post this - it's been a while since I've been around! Does anyone know which companies selling/shipping FO to/within Canada are "up to date" or not SUPER backlogged right now? Or perhaps there are Canadian sites (or US sites that ship with reasonable costs to...

    First Goat Milk Soaps!

I froze the goat milk and added the lye slowly, mixing constantly, while using an ice bath as well. I've done a few more goat milk batches this way and my lye/milk mixture never gets above 80F. My oils are typically around 110F and I really like soaping at these temps. The freezing of the milk...

    Homemade Multi-bar Soap Cutter

Indents on the top and side is genius. I only ever mark the top at the 1” marks. Marking the sides would definitely help me stay square when cutting. Thank you for the suggestion!!!!!
