    Marseille soap

I've never used a real soap of marseille (with olive oil that is) , now a lot of them are made with a lot of palm oil. In my experience the scent (due from the pomace olive oil) is unpleasant. They are more aggressive than CP soap (there is no glycerin in soap of marseille due to the process)...

    Marseille soap

Hey ! did this thread needs a french history guy ? (probably not) The name "marseille soap" referes to the french "savon de marseille" and traditionally, this is a 100% olive oil soap and it has been for centuries ! In 1688, a law was past to declare that only olive oil could be used in this...

is CP and CPOP comparable ?

Hello evryone I'm doing quite a lot of tests to find a good formula with a good lather without too much foreign oils and as you can imagine it's not easy. So to save some time I use a lot of CPOP. Basically I pour my soap into mold, cover them and put them into a 50°C oven for 24h then unmold...

Web site launched over the holiday break - looking for feedback

The site is well constructed. However it's not really my style to be honest :) White and blue are really cold color and I perssonally prefer a more warm environement ^^. However if it's suit you go for it !

Hello evryone , from France !

Hello ! To be totally honest, rapeseed wax seems to be an excellent idea but a bad moove in terms of marketing : hydrogenated oil have very bad press even though totally hydrogenated oil is considered non toxic (it's only when the hydrogenation is not well made) but when you see the load of...

Might have to rethink my opinion on salt bars

I just tested a castile saline soap in CPOP (to test rapidly) and clearly, it didn't change much. The feel of the castille is still present , basically no differences.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I will do a castille soap with 95%NaOH + 5% KOH as it is said to improve it :) I will use CPOP with a yoghurt making machine that heats evenly at 50°C

What's the deal with solid shampoo

I totally agree , if your solution is no longer alkaline it won't make a soap. But I was wondering if it was possible to integrate powder into the solid and well saponified soap so that the lather resulting from it will be overall neutral :). Like for example if you melted a melt and pour soap...

Hello evryone , from France !

I didn't know about aloe ! Be sure I'll try. What I discovered is that soap calc is mainly correct with lather calculation but not always ! sometimes you can get unexpected result from the combinaison of oils.

What's the deal with solid shampoo

Wow thank you for the answer ! Turns out I just got lucky ^^ My goal would be to neutralize the pH with citric acid in powder dispersed into the soap paste but I need to try it out extensively to see if this work ^^

Hello evryone , from France !

I was thinking of that : beeswax or clay , salt etc ... But I'm working on the lather right now :) I perssonally love beeswax but I don't want to cut from my vegans customer ^^

Hello evryone , from France !

that's true and non of my soft oil soap was sufficiently good to be selled , I'm first working on creating lather with local oil then the hardness as it is (in my opinion) much easier to control than lather. I'm actually curing a bar of castille with "sea water" ^^

Hello evryone , from France !

Thanks for the luck ^^ To be honest it's totally possible to do soft oil soaps and they don't take that long to cure , but they will always be really soft and maybe that's what people assume is "not enough curing". The real problem is the oxydation. Some of my soft oils experiment have turn...

What's the deal with solid shampoo

Hello evryone ! I'm very sensitive on the scalp and before, industrial shampoo was irritating for it. So I tried solid shampoo and it was much better. And then I tried solid soap. Now I shampoo with a solid CP soap with good lather and it's perfect , I have 0 problem with it. So why is solid...
