    French macarons lotion bars

Especially since they also smell like vanilla!

    HP salt bars

😂 Wish I could have seen that! I think they are beautiful. I never made salt bars and don’t know much about them, so I’ll need to do some reading on that.

    French macarons lotion bars

Yesterday I made my first lotion bars! I used the silicon molds I made using real French macarons. ❤ I think this size is perfect for lotion bars or guest soaps. I’m really happy about them. They don’t have too much drag and leave the skin hydrated but not oily or sticky. I only wish...

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

Don’t worry about it, since I was a kid my dad’s swear word has always been “sh*t”, so when I go to the US I have to keep reminding myself to NOT say it. And I’m not so good at it! I’m just a beginner, but I appreciate the compliment! My Asperger self is never satisfied unless things are...

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

Hi! Thanks for your answer. Not sure I understand though... Just to be sure: - You can see the phenomenon happen WHILE you are pouring the soap? I haven’t noticed that... I took video and plenty of pics but the resolution isn’t high enough to tell... - It only happens with your dancing...

    Impulse heat sealer

What do you think of the smell through polyolefin shrink wraps? Would you still make a sniff hole?

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

*Blush* Thanks! It’s a nice soap (for a beginner at least), but it was a test so I’ll most definitely use it and/or give it away. :p

    Trials and errors

Maybe try the one I used? I got it from « the Love of colours on Etsy. I can also write details about he recipe, soaping conditions and indigo preparation, if you’d like.

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

If you liked my soap you’ll be happy with the results. In a loaf mold, there’s less surface to work on but the layers will show inside the soap. Have fun! 😁

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

Great observation! 👍 I didn’t have a slab mold (I just received the small one I bought from Nurture soap) so I used my loaf mold as a slab mold. The thickness of the loaf is the thickness of the individual soaps (I cut the loaf into 5 soaps perpendicularly).

« The love of colours » (natural colorants)

I’ve bought indigo powder and madder root powder from THE LOVE OF COLOR on Etsy: Colour by nature by theloveofcolours She’s located in Canada (so it’s a good alternative for us Canadians, the shipping was very fast (even with the COVID19 situation) and the products were excellent quality. I...

The cut soaps look really cool! Very happy about this batch.

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

The thing is... I had a 33% lye concentration myself. I guess I’ll eventually solve the puzzle.

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

Whoa 😮 you just blew my mind! I had never heard of that before. Gotta read about this. Could I discount the water more and still have a slow moving recipe? I know my other soap with natural colorants (same I used yesterday + madder + indigo) initially developed soda ash on top but...

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

No, all colours were mixed in 10 ml sunflower oil. Maybe it just shows more on certain colours? Unless certains colorants are more prone to soda ash, but I wouldn’t see why. I used annato, activated charcoal and chlorella.

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

Thanks a lot for the explanation! Any advice on preventing sofa ash and still have a recipe that moves slow enough to do intricate designs? It’s not very visible on this picture because I had sprayed alcohol on the soap not too long before, but you can see the soap ash in this picture:

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

Darn you, soda ash! 😤 I usually spray my finished soap with 99% alcohol, but I forgot yesterday. Could that explain why I got soda ash faster than usual? I had read here that with a 35% lye concentration a member never has sofa ash problems. Does soaping at lower temperatures increase the...

    Dancing funnel with natural colorants

Today, thanks to the “I Dream In Soap” video about emulsion, trace, false trace and acceleration, I was able to make a nice dancing funnel! I’m very happy about it, although it would have been better suited for a slab mold. It’s sleeping right now, I hope it’ll go through gel phase so the...
