What soapy thing have you done today?

I had a lesson in humble pie soapmaking on Monday evening. I decided to make a briny loaf (“loaf” was mistake #1) so added 2 Tbsp sea salt in with my water for the lye sol’n. I made my soap, got it into my loaf mold and into the oven to CPOP. Yesterday morning, in a rush I turned ON the oven...

    20% off of Everything WSP

I guess for once I should be GLAD that I’m in Canada and would have to pay horrendous shipping and duties - so I can’t be tempted like all my neighbours to the south … 😁

    Gloppy rice flour

Update - so I made a small batch of rice milk soap last night just to see what would happen with the rice milk and slurry from the cooked rice. Time will tell on how good the soap is, but I am happy with how it set up and the way it looks! And it was nice to have a batter that I could just pour...

    Gloppy rice flour

Thanks! I think I may abandon my cooked rice “water” and use the water from some soaked, but not cooked, rice. Then add a touch of the cooked slurry. Will be fun to see what happens!

    Gloppy rice flour

Help! 😁I’ve just cooked up some rice with extra water and strained the water to freeze into ice cubes. Will blend up some of the cooked rice with distilled water as well. I’m just trying to figure out how to figure out the water discount… my brain isn’t working for me 😬 but I think I have to...

I’ve just cooked some rice to try to make some soap - wondering how the various experiments from a couple years back turn out! Good soap? Are you doing the same or different methods now?

    Your favorite stick blender

Thank you for starting my day with a chuckle. You have a great writing style that captures your experience with humour! I bought a Cuisinart 2 button SB when I started soaping this year - it is now my kitchen blender and my old one is now for soaping. I join you in disliking the 2 button...

    Calling me Hun

When I was a kid, I recall that once in awhile someone would call my mother “dear”. She always got frosty and would mutter “I’m not your dear!” once she got out of earshot. I learned through mom to get prickly about being called “dear” myself and for YEARS I would repeat that “I’m not your dear”...
