What are your favorite soapmaking YouTube channels?

@Vicki C i feel the same way about Tellervo, sooo relaxing (once I’ve stopped wondering about how exactly she gets those everyday sounds to be so pleasing to the ears). Aaaahhhhhh

What are your favorite soapmaking YouTube channels?

I’d add Elly’s Everyday to the lists above. Some of the Saponification Nation are good too. I’m looking forward to watching some channels that are new to me! @Prysm, Thanks for starting this thread!

    Warning: Addiction

I agree, @dibbles - line dried sheets are the best! And towels. I love the way towels are kind of rough after being dried on the line in the sunshine. Feels so good after a shower! had to put my clothesline away for the winter last month, days too short and temperatures too cold. Sigh.

    Warning: Addiction

That’s what I reverted to. Have been using lavender EO on my wool dryer balls for years. But would have been happy if the salt and EO combo had worked in the rinse cycle! I hang dry my laundry 6 months of the year and pinning up a fe dryer balls on the laundry line just wouldn’t work (plus the...

    Homemade laundry soap

@Georgeandstella Nope - fragrance/essential oils won’t affect the superfat percentage. I’ve appreciated @AliOop’s advice - I grated my 0% SF coconut soap to prep for making laundry detergent - but I won’t use it because my water is hard and I don’t want clothing and bedding to be washed with...

    Polishing soap bars

Norwex microfibre cleaning cloths - I think the ones meant for polishing windows and mirrors are best but the others work well too

    SMF September 2023 Un-Challenge - Simple Pleasures

I’m sorry you had an unexpected surprise about the changes to single use plastics - it’s upsetting the look for a product you use a lot and to find it’s gone missing. I am in Alberta and heard/saw lots of advance info about the upcoming changes - as it’s a federal initiative I would have thought...

    Polishing soap bars

Oooh, that’s a pretty soap! I love the shape and the colours. I use a microfibre cloth as well to polish bars that need a bit of love

What to do with mountains of soap

I donate plenty of soap to a local nonprofit organization (I did ask first if they wanted it, and YES they did!) I cut the bars into smallish pieces for the very reason you suggest - many of the people using the donated soap do not have a way to store/ carry a wet bar. They prefer a small soap...

    Olive oil soaps

I have made plenty of soap using pomace, with nary a problem UNTIL I bought a 20 litre box of pomace a few months ago from Costco. And - Holy Moley!! My first soap using that pomace oil went to a thick trace instantly. I am very conservative with my stick blender, and had only done a couple 2-3...

    Homemade laundry soap

@AliOop i just came on to look up ingredients and ratios for laundry soap - I made a big batch of 0% SF coconut soap for dishes /stain stick several months ago, and no-one wants me to share with them! NO-ONE!! I get that washing with a bar, and rinsing a lot, is different than squeezing Dawn...

    Soap wrapping with translucent paper

I am grateful for the thought and care that many people are showing WRT the packaging waste. There isn’t a perfect solution - but it makes my heart glad to know that many are trying to find less harmful ways to soap, and to share our soap! I wrap my soaps in compostable coffee filters. I...

ENTRY THREAD for SMF June 2023 Challenge: Layers!

Well, this month has been a struggle - with soap (no thanks to the huge container of pomace olive oil I just purchased, that traces RIGHT NOW), and family illnesses. But I agreed to post an entry so here it is! This was my second trial (and I do mean trial! 😆) with said pomace oil (used at...
