    OPW

I bevelled and planed the bars of my last OPW batch, also including the Column pour bar I entered in the March challenge.

    Lard, sunflower oil soap IMG_6855.JPG

Used a slow moving recipe to make OPW and column pour and a few individual bars in single silicone moulds.

    OPW

Yes, the red and the blue are nearer to reality but the green has too much yellow and the yellow should be (off-)white. Thanks for trying!

What made you pick your avatar/ username?!

I changed my avatar picture because I love rising sun scenes and have been taking many photos from my balcony. The numbers show my age this year. And Ladka is my name. I was christened Vladimira but I've been always Ladka: in my generation longish names were always shortened for everyday use ;)

Entry Thread for the March 2022 SMF Challenge - Column Pour

I made the bar even before I signed in for the challenge and then almost forgot to publish it. Hadn't Dibbles reminded us ... I don't have a slab mould so had to improvise. I lined my loaf mould with baking paper ten centimetres short of the entire length and poured the challenge bar directly...

    OPW

I made another batch of OPW, achieving more intense colours this time. Using the remaining batter I also poured a few individual silicone moulds. I used flashlight and the photo came out dim :(
  11. Another batch of OPW

    Another batch of OPW

With more intense colours this time. I used chrome oxide + activated charcoal for green, aquamarine mica + activated charcoal for blue, wine red mica for red and uncoloured batter for white.

What soapy thing have you done today?

@Catscankim Me too, I'm tired of people saying they'll use my soap for decoration. On Monday I had a CT with a contrast and when I passed the scanning and had to stay there for another half hour in case there were any side effects I gave the nurse a yellow butterfly bar of soap. And she...

First bars from my loaf mould

The point is we colour Easter eggs with vivid colours, and the colours in my soap are not reminiscent od Easter eggs at all for me

First bars from my loaf mould

... for which I used three different micas - aargh!

First bars from my loaf mould

I unmoulded my yesterday soap and cut the loaf after 14 hrs of pouring. I identified the softness/hardness spot on, when I returned from my CT scanning; I took my old knife with a very thin blade and cut pluckily. I used some of my new micas I've only used once or twice before. Trying to avoid...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Tested my new loaf mould to make a tallow-sunflower-coconut oil-castor oil soap. Used five colours and three FO's and poured OPW, even made a simple pattern on top. It is gelling hopefully wrapped in an old towel.
