You are right DeeAnna. Shaving soap needs a lot more stearic Acid. Since it is a small batch I thought maybe another alternative would be to shave with it.:D

I would try and cook out the excess water and use the paste as is as a shaving soap. It is just another option other than liquid soap.

I use Sodium Hydroxide pearls with a discounted water ratio of 29.5%. The glycerine added after the cook provides the superfatting qualities.

Hi and welcome Gypsybaron. I am also from South Africa. I have a recipe that does not include SLES or Glycol, but rather a more natural base and glycerine if you are interested. It is HP method and did not colour yellow when I made it.
